PS3A PlayTime – week of 18 June, 2012

Submitted by on Monday, 25 June 2012No Comment

Team PS3 Attitude is always hard at work writing the magical posts you enjoy reading so much. And while everyone is working hard, everyone must play equally as hard. Read on to find out what we’ve been playing this past week?

The new release scene was all systems go this past week. PlayStation 3 delivered with Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 and Tomba for PSone Classics, also playable on PSP. PlayStation Vita gamers got another title boost with the release of LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes.

Each week the PS3 Attitude writing staff has been asked to answer three simple questions, but we would love to hear your answers as well. Keep us informed in the comments section that follows.

  1. What games have you been playing this week?
  2. Did you accomplish something cool?
  3. What are you watching or reading?

What I’m playing: This week I finally started playing something other than FIFA Football. On the PS Vita I played the brilliant Gravity Rush and Unit 13, both in offline mode.

Accomplishments: There have been lots of fun moments in both games so far. Unit 13 is almost the perfect handheld shooter, with missions you can complete in a few minutes; perfect for any commute. But Gravity Rush is a whole different bag of cats. It’s like playing a Studio Ghibli movie! The first time I defeated a boss with the ‘finishing move’, my jaw literally hit the floor. Stunning.

What I’m watching and reading: Haven’t had much time to watch TV this week. Other than keeping up with the Euro 2012 tournament, I finally managed to finish Alcatraz Season 1. Such a shame that FOX canned it – the show was starting to get interesting. We’ll never know what all those ’63s were really there for…

What I’m playing: WipEout HD, FIFA Vita, Sniper Elite V2, Call of Duty: World at War.

Accomplishments: Re-playing World at War reminded me that I had much more fun playing its singleplayer campaign than Black Ops.

What I’m watching and reading: I continued my Lost marathon. Up to season 5 now, clearly the writers were going through their “I am the Walrus” phase. It’s bonkers.

What I’m playing: Dragon Age: Origins

Accomplishments: After two and a half years, I finally obtained the Dragon Age: Origins platinum and completed the Awakening expansion. Unfortunately, the Grim Reaper trophy on the Golems of Amgarrak DLC still eludes me, so for now I’m stuck on 99%. NOOOOO!!!!!

What I’m watching and reading: Watched England FC lose on penalties… again! Why does that always happen?

What I’m playing: Played Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection for PS Vita.

Accomplishments: Completed Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Only killed 7 people but we’ll let that slide 😉

What I’m watching and reading: Saw and enjoyed Pixar’s Brave. The animations of the film are absolutely amazing.

What I’m playing: Uncharted 3 Online and Metal Gear Solid 3 HD.

Accomplishments: Trying to find all those blasted frog things throughout MGS3.

What I’m watching and reading: Currently watching Batman: The Animated Series.

What I’m playing: Tomba, Wipeout 2048 – Wipeout HD add-on for PS Vita, Ghost Busters PS3 and Assassin’s Creed II.

Accomplishments: Discovering how amazing Wipeout HD is on the Vita has been eye-opening. It plays just like the PS3 version, which I tested back in my Sony days, but loads faster than I remember. This has been a long time coming.

What I’m watching and reading: I just purchased Heat Rises by Richard Castle (not really). The always reliable Amazon Kindle Store follows Google Play Books pricing by selling it at $1.99 last week. Love it! Just started watching the hit American show about New York Firefighters, Rescue Me, with Denis Leary. His first name is odd looking having only one “n”.

What I’m playing: MK for Vita, Hot Shots Golf demo

Accomplishments: The Thieves Guild story in Skyrim has the best looking loot and an awesome story. I hope the other ones hold up to that standard.

What I’m watching and reading: About to begin “Ready Player One”, I hear it’s a “gamer’s kind of book”
