Ubisoft announces The Expendables 2 Video Game for a PSN release this summer

Submitted by on Friday, 29 June 2012No Comment

The Expendables 2 hits theaters 16 August and now Ubisoft says the video game is tagging along for the ride. Its important to clarify that while the downloadable game bares the same name as the sequel to the original movie released last year, The Expendables 2 Video Game will actually end where The Expendables 2 movie begins.

That may sound a bit confounded, but have faith in the power of an all-star cast joining together to make this game. Those all-stars would actually be the developers of the game, not Sylvester, Stathom, Li, and all the other testosterone fueled actors. The only problem is, Ubisoft hasn’t mentioned who is developing The Expendables 2 Video Game; and that raises an eyebrow or two.

Ubisoft describes the game only as “an adventure to rescue an extremely valuable, kidnapped billionaire.” Four player local and online multiplayer complete with online leaderboards rounds out the lackluster announcement. They did provide some images from the game that should have been called The Expendables 1.5, alas this is not the case.

If screenshots contributed in any way to our understanding of how well a game plays, then The Expendables 2 Video Game is going to do well. Licensed action games on PSN are a rare commodity indeed, with Ghostbusters amongst the handful coming to mind.

Will Van Damme finally get a chance to redeem himself from the miserable Street Fighter: The Movie video game?
