Hideo Kojima announces Metal Gear Solid 4 trophy patch
Well, this is a surprise! In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Hideo Kojima has confirmed that, after four years, a trophy patch is in the works for PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Interestingly, Metal Gear Solid 4 and PSN trophy support arrived within a month of each other, back in summer 2008. At that time, trophies were not mandatory, and despite many requests for a patch, Kojima’s stance on the subject has been rather non-committal.
That is, until now. The trophy patch is likely to coincide with the Japanese budget-release of MGS4, which is scheduled for release in August, and will include trophies straight out of the box. There’s no word on an international release of the patch, but we can’t see something this big being Japan-only.
The news is going to make a lot of gamers very happy, as most had given up hope this would ever happen, especially after the Metal Gear Online servers were shut down just last month. If you’re looking for an excuse to replay one of the most creative and impressive games on PS3, this is definitely it!
