PS3A PlayTime – week of 25 June, 2012

Submitted by on Monday, 2 July 2012One Comment

Team PS3 Attitude is always diligent in writing the magical posts you enjoy reading so much. And while everyone is working hard, everyone tries to play equally as hard. Read on to find out what we’ve been playing this past week?

You may discover that this week shows how much we love our PS Vitas. Despite what the haters say, the current selection of games on Vita have proven to be fun, engaging, and even addictive at times. With our growing team of writers, PlayTime is becoming quite the read.

Each week the PS3 Attitude writing staff has been asked to answer three simple questions, but we would love to hear your answers as well. Keep us informed in the comments section that follows.

  1. What games have you been playing this week?
  2. Did you accomplish something cool?
  3. What are you watching or reading?

What I’m playing: Still hooked on Unit 13 and Gravity Rush for PS Vita. Still playing offline.

Accomplishments: My favourite Unit 13 trophy so far involved a headshot that exited one enemy, travelled another five feet, then entered another enemy’s head to take down two targets with one bullet. Quality.

What I’m watching and reading: Did a catch-up to finish off Hawaii Five-O, including the split episode that finished within NCIS: Los Angeles. They only saved the world, again! Great cliffhanger at the end of the season though – looking forward to the show’s return.

What I’m playing: Praise to Vita. I wouldn’t have squeezed any games into my busy week if it wasn’t for this portable device. Everybody’s Golf, WipEout 2048/HD and Super Stardust all entertained.

Accomplishments: Few things are more satisfying than sinking a 9m putt on a bumpy green in Everybody’s Golf.

What I’m watching and reading: Lost marathon is almost complete. Now on season six. What year is it again?

What I’m playing: Dragon Age II, The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy.

Accomplishments:  I came to a shocking realisation this week; as much as it pains me to say it, I actually think Dragon Age II is more fun to play than Dragon Age: Origins. Don’t hate me!

What I’m watching and reading: The Killing is getting genuinely intriguing now, even though I already know who the killer is – stupid internet!

What I’m playing: Played MGS3: Snake Eater HD on the Vita and Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles on the PSN.

Accomplishments: No big achievements this week, other than the fact that I found anytime at all to play.

What I’m watching and reading: Saw The Amazing Spider-Man in IMAX 3D. Looked fantastic. Definitely worth a watch when it releases later this week.

What I’m playing: Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Accomplishments: Discovering that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is actually a whole lot of fun.

What I’m watching and reading: This weekend I went to see The Five Year Engagement. Big fan of Jason Segel. I’m also reading An Abundance of Katherines by noted author and vlogger, John Green.

What I’m playing: I’ve continued playing Wipeout 2048 and Pinball Arcade on the Vita. An NDA prevents me from saying anything about the DUST 514 private beta, and I am slowly chipping away at my first completion of Ghostbusters and Assassin’s Creed II. Soon though.

Accomplishments: Acquired a bunch of new trophies in Assassin’s Creed II, but nothing stood out. I’ve got my sights set on a few particularly challenging Wipeout 2048 trophies. I need to challenge Kahjah1 to some Mortal Kombat on Vita too!

What I’m watching and reading: I put the books down this week and have just been combing my feeds for anything about the Galaxy S III. Mine is on pre-order. Can’t say I’ve watched much either, save for some Felicia Day care of her Google+.

What I’m playing: Super Stardust Delta on Vita and The Walking Dead.

Accomplishments: The Walking Dead has to be one of the coolest games I’ve played in a very long time. I found myself frozen with a controller in my hand not knowing what decision to make. Very few games can do that nowadays.

What I’m watching and reading: Been listening to a bunch of podcasts: Operation Cubicle, Nerdgasm Noire, Character Select, Weekend Confirmed, just to name a few.

What I’m playing: This week I’ve been playing Gravity Rush and Catherine, both being new purchases, and am really enjoying them both. I’ve also been playing Resistance: Burning Skies, Treasures of Montezuma Blitz, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception online, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit online, Stardrone Extreme and the recently updated Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Accomplishments: On ORC Survivor online when someone glitched out and comically fell over like a cartoon character does when they slip on a banana skin. About to start the Ratchet and Clank HD Collection, been keeping myself busy this week!

What I’m watching and reading: I’ve recently finished The Hunger Games trilogy and really enjoyed it and so I’ve been flicking through them again every now and then to re-read some of my favourite bits. I’ve been watching the odd episode of How I Met Your Mother (waiting for season 8!), The Big Bang Theory, and Dumbo on Blu-ray which was great. The drunk scene was quite strange!
