PS3A PlayTime – week of 9 July, 2012
The writers of PS3 Attitude are not only really good at writing but claim to be quality gamers as well. A challenge to do when work consume them. And while everyone is working hard, everyone tries to play hard. Find out what games merit the unique PlayTime of the PS3 Attitude staff.
This past week was a bit sluggish in the new releases category, and next week doesn’t look like it will turn out much different. Though, with Dyad hitting the PlayStation Network we can’t say they forgot about us. Dyad is a mesmerizing experience that combines psychedelic visuals with an audio experience that is integrated naturally into the gameplay mechanics. Look for the official Dyad – The PS3 Attitude Review this week.
These are the three simple questions that the PS3 Attitude writing staff has been asked to answer. But we want to hear your answers as well. Keep us informed in the comments section at the bottom of the post.
- What games have you been playing this week?
- Did you accomplish something cool?
- What are you watching or reading?
What I’m playing: It has been all about Everybody’s Golf on the Vita this week. I’m chomping my way through the Challenge mode, and have been having a go at the Online Daily International Challenges. I did try to start an online game through the nicely laid-out Lobby, but it is a bit quiet in there at the moment…
Accomplishments: The moment when I chipped in from 174 yards while in a match modified with Teeny Cup rules (the hole is half the size of the regular one) resulted in one of the most exhilarating moments of my life. Possibly.
What I’m watching and reading: No time for watching or reading anything this week, what with the charity poker tournament and other Develop 2012 events.
What I’m playing: Played a little Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and finally got round to finishing LEGO Batman 2 (Vita). One was great, the other less so. I’ll let you guess which one’s which.
Accomplishments: My favourite trophies are the ones you get for completing a game. It signals that you’ve just reached the finish line. This week it was “Justice League, Assemble!”
What I’m watching and reading: I watched the harrowing but absolutely brilliant Winter’s Bone. Jennifer Lawrence is a name you’ll hear a lot in the future.
What I’m playing: Dragon Age II, MotorStorm RC, Quantum Conundrum, The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy.
Accomplishments: Started Quantum Conundrum, got stuck on a puzzle, worked it out, got a bit further, got stuck on another puzzle, worked it out, got a bit further, got stuck on yet another puzzle; and that’s my experience with the game so far in a nutshell – good times!
What I’m watching and reading: Started reading The Amber Spyglass, even though the ending always makes me feel depressed.
What I’m playing: Played Quantum Conundrum. Also spent plenty of time leaving the game in it’s idle state on the XMB. “Flip a Switch” is quite the addicting song.
Accomplishments: One of the best thing to do in Quantum Conundrum is to read all the book titles. They’re all scientific plays on real novels. Go read them, laugh, and thank me later.
What I’m watching and reading: Watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight in preparation for The Dark Knight Rises’ release this week. Can’t wait to see how it all ends!
What I’m playing: Treasures of Montezuma Blitz for Vita has basically joined my list of games I play daily, like Words With Friends on Android. Dyad has consumed me this week. Something about the simplistic UI followed by the mind-melting bombardment of audio/visual stimuli leads to sensory overload.
Accomplishments: I finally completed the fantastic Sorry Mitch, for me, getting over 1 billion points in Montezuma Blitz was pretty amazing. Thank you update 1.60!
What I’m watching and reading: Ha, reading! Hilarious. Lately, I’ve been reading blogs not books. I can’t get enough of them. When the pages in a book start to animate like photographs and newspapers in Hogwarts, then I’ll make reading them a full time event.
What I’m playing: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception online, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 offline, Devil May Cry 4, Ratchet and Clank Trilogy (Going Commando), Treasures of the Montezuma Blitz.
Accomplishments: I think getting over 50,000 points on Blitz was pretty memorable.
What I’m watching and reading: Gurran Lagaan anime, How I Met Your Mother, Flicking through Spider-Man movies, went cinemas and saw The Amazing Spider-Man (amazing indeed!), The Big Bang Theory. Been reading through some old Spidey comics on the web (hehe) and watching loads of YouTube videos.
