Seth Killian joins Sony Santa Monica Studio
Seth Killian, the former Capcom community manager and fighting game adviser, has joined Sony Santa Monica Studio as lead game designer. In his new role, Killian will work on design with Sony’s outside studios, which includes Giant Sparrow, Fun Bits Interactive, thatgamecompany, SuperBot and Queasy.
Killian left Capcom last month after spending more than five years with the company, advising the fighting game studios and being a public face for the company. His background as a pro Street Fighter player allowed him to bond with both the developers and the community.
One of his first projects at Santa Monica Studio will be to work with SuperBot on PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, a game which he believes is actually quite original. He told GameSpot:
“All-Stars definitely has a lot of fan-service IP from the Sony universe, but its core gameplay is something we haven’t seen anywhere before.”
One of his first moves appears to be positioning PlayStation All-Stars as a game that would appeal to the hardcore. In his welcome message on the PlayStation Blog, he mentions that Evo finalists are working on the game and that it will be playable at Evo this year.
