Street Fighter X Tekken getting Near release on Vita
Street Fighter X Tekken for Vita is getting a bit of a marketing push with the latest video to come from Capcom. In it we are introduced with some enhanced functionality and exclusive features prone to be included in many recent Vita releases.
Unfortunately, this video comes sans release date, and that is a bummer giving that Street Fighter X Tekken has been out on home consoles for over four months. While the Vita version is the same game with a really late release date, its coming with Near functionality, Ad hoc Fight Request, Replay Exchange, a plethora of collectibles, and exclusive camera features. All this may come as no surprise to Vita owners, but also may fall on deaf ears to those Street Fighter elitists.
Amazon is giving away a Street Fighter X Tekken alternate costumes pack as a pre-order bonus. No word on if this pack will be cross-compatible with the PS3 version, though it is likely given that Capcom has allowed such a thing with the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 DLC.
Many long time fans of the Street Fighter series of games are not liking the sales model Capcom has been employing on their last few games. One would think re-releasing a game with a hand of additional characters and a suffix or prefix affixed to the title would be allowed to get by a smart consumer once. Only Capcom would dare to do it a second time when they released Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.
You can imagine the Vita haters coming out in droves to protest a move that brings a bevy of features exclusively to the 5″ portable, not to mention all 55 characters are onboard. Street Fighter X Tekken on Vita follows in the evenly spaced footsteps of Mortal Kombat on Vita when it too re-released itself with exclusive features, making it the ultimate version on any system.
Will Street Fighter X Tekken on Vita be the ultimate version on any system, or is it treading on thin ice with a mob of SF fans lying in wait with ice picks?
