GC2012; Sony shows off cross control play for LittleBigPlanet 2

With the Wii U’s tablet controller and the Xbox 360’s SmartGlass technology, it looks like dual-screen gaming is the future for home consoles. Now Sony has hit back with an impressive demo of its own, in which the Vita is used as a controller to play LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3.

LittleBigPlanet 2 really is the game that keeps on giving. Despite being released well over a year and a half ago, Sony are still continuing to support the game with a steady stream of DLC packs, and the upcoming cross control feature could be the biggest one yet.

The above video can definitely explain things far more clearly than we can, so give it a watch if you haven’t already done so. The pack utilises all of the Vita’s functions, including the touchcreen, rear touch and motion sensor, to create a brand new LBP experience. It will even include multiplayer for up to five people; four players with PS3 controllers, and one player with the Vita.

The cross control pack for LittleBigPlanet 2 will be released later this year, and as well as including several readymade levels, it will also, in true LBP style, allow players to make their own cross control levels, and share them with the community. Colour us excited!
