GC2012; New The Last of Us trailer focuses on the darker side of Joel
Sony have shown a new trailer for upcoming Naughty Dog title The Last of Us at their gamescom press conference.
With brutality being a clear focus for the game, Naughty Dog decided to show everybody a much darker, more violent side of Joel, a side Ellie clearly isn’t comfortable with.
The trailer primarily focuses on combat with Joel delivering a number of punches, gunshots and a multitude of items that enemies often say hello to with their heads. Maybe Joel doesn’t hate the enemies, maybe he just has an intense hate for inanimate objects.
Clips of the ambush scene are shown again and Ellie asks Joel how he knew it would be an ambush rather than civilians needing help, Joel solemnly tells her that he has been on both sides, hinting that he was once attacking innocent people to survive, too. You can’t help but want to get to know more of the pair after this short interaction.
Have a look at the fantastic, action-packed trailer below:
The game is currently slated for an early 2013 release.
