GC2012; PS3 and Vita get more ‘Cross Buy’ games

Submitted by on Tuesday, 14 August 2012One Comment

The PS3 and PS Vita have seen a handful of Cross Buy titles (purchase one version of a game, get the other for free) in the last few months, including MotorStorm RC and the recently released (and brilliant) Sound Shapes, but up until now they’ve all been relatively small PSN games, not full retail titles. Well, that’s all set to change later this year.

First up is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale which, as announced at E3 in June, will also feature cross-platform play between the two consoles. Next is Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which has apparently slipped into an ‘early 2013’ release, according to the latest trailer. And finally, there’s Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault/Q Force, which was rather casually announced for Vita by President and CEO of SCEE, Jim Ryan.

That’s one hell of a precedent to start, so it looks like all future Sony-published games for PS3 and Vita will be Cross Buy purchases. This is clearly a very bold move by the company, and shows that Sony is genuinely serious about supporting the PS Vita.
