GC2012; Rayman Legends not coming to PS3 after all

Submitted by on Thursday, 16 August 2012One Comment

Though Ubisoft hasn’t shown any PS3 footage of upcoming platformer Rayman Legends, everyone (including us) just assumed that it would come to the same consoles as Rayman Origins, which would include PS3 and Vita. Well, the latest trailer finally reveals the truth, and unfortunately it doesn’t make happy viewing for PlayStation gamers.

The end of the trailer clearly states that Rayman Legends is ‘coming Christmas 2012, exclusively on Wii U’. It’s worth noting that this will be the first major Rayman game to not launch on a PlayStation console.

Whilst great for prospective Wii U purchasers, this is pretty unwelcome news for everyone else, as the game itself is looking absolutely fantastic. It’s not even like the game is only possible on Wii U, as the console’s tablet controller could be replaced by the Vita for the PS3 version.

There is hope for Rayman fans who weren’t planning to buy a Wii U though. To us, the trailer makes it sound like the game is simply launching as a Wii U exclusive, and so the possibility of Rayman Legends coming to PS3 is not completely out of the question. It may simply be wishful thinking on our part, but if we all wish hard enough, Ubisoft just might make it happen.
