Gamescom 2012 trailer catchup – part 1
Throughout Gamescom week our inbox gets barraged by publishers pushing trailers. We can’t complain. We love them, and we know you do too.
That’s why we decided to collect our favourites and put them together in an article. It turned out we couldn’t narrow them down to 10, so we thought we might as well give you 37.
Here are nine videos to get you started. We’ll have more up throughout the day.
THE LAST OF US
“I’ve been on both sides”, says Joel. It seems our hero isn’t squeaky clean, but that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. We did after all just witness him direct a shotgun at a bad guy’s face from point-black range.
INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US
The sassy Catwoman will have her claws out in 2013 for Injustice, the new fighter from Mortal Kombat dev NeverRealm.
KILLZONE: MERCENARY
Guerrilla Games is taking a different approach for this portable Killzone. It’s smaller scale with you, a hitman, taking out targets in not so stealthy fashion; each kill earns you money. It looks fantastic and no less brutal than we’ve come to expect from Killzone.
DEAD SPACE 3
Are you one of the many Dead Space fans concerned that Visceral is ditching horror chills for action thrills? This spooky trailer is clearly designed to reassure you that this isn’t the case.
RESIDENT EVIL 6
Meet Jake Muller, Resi’s newest playable character. He looks like your typical unremarkable shaven-headed game hero, but what he appears to lack in personality he makes up with his proficiency in taking out hoards of pincer-heads. He’s also good on a skimobile.
REMEMBER ME
Developed by Dontnod and published by Capcom, Remember Me was one of the welcome surprises of the show. This demo showcases a future setting and intelligent memory-rewriting gameplay.
UNTIL DAWN
Thought PS Move was reserved for lazy party games? You were wrong. Supermassive Games is bringing teen horror and poorly animated sex scenes to your TV. This won’t be one for your granny.
METAL GEAR RISING REVENGEANCE
Don’t treat Rising like it’s your typical Metal Gear – it isn’t. However, we’ve played it and it is a lot of fun. The team at Platinum Games have a great record of making exciting gameplay.
BORDERLANDS 2
Borderlands was famous for having a lot of guns, and the sequel will be no different. This cheerful presentation shows off the everyman’s weapon.
