Zen Pinball 2 has finally received a release date, and it’s September 4, announced Zen Studios this morning. It will be available on both the PS3 and PS Vita free of charge with the option to purchase individual tables for cross-platform download.

Essentially, Zen Pinball 2 is an updated version of Zen Pinball and Marvel Pinball. Any content players have already purchased for the two previously released games will be automatically imported into Zen Pinball 2. The new version of the game will feature simultaneous online multiplayer competition, split-screen multiplayer, friend scoreboards, worldwide scoreboards, and more. Older tables will also get  graphical improvements and physics updates for a more authentic pinball experience.

For those who don’t already have Zen and Marvel Pinball, Zen Pinball 2 will allow you to demo all 26 existing tables before you make a purchase.

In addition to the release date, Zen Studios have also announced that a mystery PopCap Games table will be available for download as DLC on September 4 as well. Will it be a Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, or Bejeweled themed table or perhaps some combination of them all? The table will be officially revealed later this month at PAX Prime.
