PS3A PlayTime – week of 15 October, 2012
Come join us once a week where we prove that our spare time isn’t entirely consumed by pounding away at a keyboard, but also by mashing the buttons of our DualShock 3s and Vitas. What games have we been playing? What cool adventures have we been on? It’s PlayTime!
This week, we welcome back the infamous DolphGB to PlayTime. His time away proves that a greater work load equates to less gaming. Furthermore, this week was exciting for anyone in territories on the receiving end of the new PlayStation Store redesign. Exciting in part to all the errors and crashing those territories have dealt with.
All the issues coming from the new PS Store have led to SCEA postponing the 23 October update for North America. The sad news comes with a smiley face as SCEA says that plan to make sure the update is quality, therefor leading us to believe the UK and friends got what comes out of the tale end of a horse.
As the rain comes down in California, we look forward to a new firmware on PS3 and some great Vita releases in the next couple of PlayStation Store refreshes. This week, we’ll see the release of Street Fighter X Tekken and Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz, while next week is reserved for Need For Speed Most Wanted and Assassin’s Creed III.
For now, let’s take a look at the posts of the past seven days:
PS3 Attitude talks Underline and PlayStation Mobile with Albino Pixel
System Update 4.30 – when two trophy lists become one and Life ends
Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 coming 6 November
EU PlayStation Store Refresh: 17 October, 2012
NA PlayStation Store Refresh: 16 October, 2012
Further departures at Bioshock Infinite developer Irrational Games

What I’m playing: Haven’t been able to play much lately, but when I do get the chance I’ve been brushing up on my WipEout 2048 skills on the Vita.
Accomplishments: No memorable trophies so far, but I have managed to get through the whole season and have been treated to my first ‘secret’ race. Love the way that the rear pad comes into play when trying to find it…

What I’m playing: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Deus Ex, Zen Pinball 2, Treasures of Montezuma Blitz, Lara and the Guardian of Light, Ecolibrium, Fifa Vita, Treasure Park, Killzone: Liberation, Everybody’s Golf, Final Fantasy V.
Accomplishments: I’m finished with Ecolibrium. My ecosystems were thriving and I was on the verge of breaking the top 100. Sadly my Vita crashed and my game file got corrupted. Sony really should separate save files.
What I’m watching and reading: I’ve been watching the new season of the Thick of It. It’s a fascinating documentary. The scenarios are so bizarre you’d think they were scripted…

Majiesto
What I’m playing: Only managed to play Resident Evil 6 this week. Did finish Jake’s campaign, though, and unlocked Ada’s.
Accomplishments: Got an S rank on 4 out of 5 of Jake’s chapters. Kept crashing the motorcycle in that one chapter, though. I guess that means I probably shouldn’t own one myself…
What I’m watching and reading: Watched (and donated) Extra Life this weekend. Saw some great gaming for a great cause. Maybe next year I’ll join in on the activities.

Stefhutch20
What I’m playing: Dead or Alive 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, The Unfinished Swan.
Accomplishments: I had confirmation of how terrible I am at fighting games this week. I can just about cope with Tekken in singleplayer, but it’s a different story when playing against real players! I eventually managed to unlock all the online trophies, but at the cost of nearly driving myself insane.
What I’m watching and reading: Nothing much to say this week, although I’ll definitely be re-watching Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace soon, in preparation for Skyfall (can’t wait!).

KosmoCrisis
What I’m playing: The Walking Dead, LEGO Batman 2 (Vita), Breakquest Extra Evolution, Green Day Rock Band, Retro City Rampage
Accomplishments: Almost finished the campaign for LEGO Batman 2 while smashing flowers in Breakquest Extra Evolution. Finally, that minis title has a music accompaniment to go with the smashing gameplay. You see what I did there?
What I’m watching and reading: Reading a lot of mistakes on the official US PlayStation Blog. Rey is on a role with copy/paste errors on “The Drop”. Watching The Walking Dead season 2 on Netflix.
