Tomb Raider pre-order incentives include DLC, an art book, and more
Square Enix has revealed their pre-order plans for Tomb Raider, and it comes in three rounds of content. The first round includes retailer specific incentives for North American stores including GameStop, Amazon.com, and Best Buy.
Those who pre-order the game at GameStop, due out for release on March 5, 2013, will receive the exclusive “Challenge Tomb.” This standalone tomb will have Lara encountering all new environment puzzles.
Pre-ordering from Amazon.com nets gamers “The Final Hours Edition” of Tomb Raider. This edition includes a 32 page art book from art director Brian Horton, a “Hunter Skin” camouflage for Lara, and The Final Hours of Tombr Raider – ‘Director’s Cut’ Kindle Fire Edition which goes behind the scenes of the development process of Tomb Raider with an interactive app and video.
Finally, pre-ordering at Best Buy gets you Tomb Raider: The Beginnings Comic Book written by Rhianna Pratchett with art from Brian Horton. The 48 page graphic novel tells the story of how the Endurance came to crash land on the deserted island. Best Buy pre-orders will also give gamers access to the Aviatrix Skin; a 1930s adventurer outfit complete with bomber jacket.
Remember, this is one the first round of content out of three for those who pre-order. Stage 2 of the process is set to be announced on December 18 and the final stage in January.
There is no word of pre-order incentives outside of North America at this point but expect news shortly. A Collector’s Edition is also in the works so expect to hear about that soon as well.
