The Walking Dead coming to GameStop as exclusive Collector’s Edition

Submitted by on Tuesday, 23 October 2012No Comment

You’d have to be trapped in a closet with absolutely no internet access to not know a single thing about The Walking Dead right now. It has invaded our favorite graphic novel retailers, televisions, Netflix queues, and the PlayStation Network. Come 4 December, Telltale Games hopes to add video game retailer to that list.

The Walking Dead has until now been a downloadable game on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade. The standard Blu-ray version will hit retailers all over, and will include Episodes 1-5. This standard retail version will sell for $29.99 which is at a $10 premium over buying all five episodes right now on PSN.

But wait, there’s more. GameStop will have the exclusive on a Collector’s Edition that will include a The Walking Dead graphic novel compendium. This is a giant 1000-page book containing the first 48 issues of the original graphic novel. The cover art is that of Charlie Adlard. Fans will be hard pressed to pass this one up.

What could possibly hold anyone back from such a sweet collector’s edition? How about the price. The Walking Dead GameStop Exclusive Collector’s Edition will be in available in “limited supply” for only $69.99. This is all leading up to the fifth episode releasing sometime in November which was confirmed in a press release from Telltale Games.

If you’re in the US, we’re extremely curious to know if you’ve been holding out on playing The Walking Dead. What reason do you have for this hold out? Do you prefer digital download or physical media? Let us know in the comments below…
