Original Crysis free with pre-order of Crysis 3
Today, Crytek and EA have announced a pre-order deal for advancing your payment to the pair for the third game in the Crysis series. Crysis 3 is scheduled for release in February 2013, with pre-orders netting a download of the first Crysis game on PSN.
Crysis 3 will bring all the same Nanosuit wearing action and envelope-pushing visuals familiar to the Crysis franchise. In the third game, the US and Korea are in conflict over an artifact that is of a mysterious and alien nature. Take the lead as Prophet through the vast lanscapes of the “Seven Wonders” and the sand box gameplay that Crysis has been lauded for in an effort to hunt down the enemy.
New weapons are also in tow, with a deadly composite bow as seen in the boxart. Purchasers of the Hunter Edition have early access to the Hunter Bow and its accessories for multiplayer. “Devastating alien tech” coupled with the ability to customize the game’s arsenal of weapons to better suit the needs of the objective or enemies in your way.
Crysis was originally released in 2007 for high-end PCs and was later ported to PSN on 4 October for North America and 5 October in Europe. The PSN version of Crysis was fully remastered and built upon the CryENGINE 3 platform created by Crytek.
Alex Hood, senior designer at Crytek, said on PlayStation Blog that much was done to bring the original over to PS3:
Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise.
Pre-order the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition and get a bonus XP boost up to level 5, the unique Predator bow skin, and three dog tags exclusive to the pre-order and purchase. Is this enough to entice the early of Crysis 3 or will you hole out for more before February 2013 rolls around?
