PS3 Attitude’s picks of the PS Store sales

Submitted by on Friday, 9 November 2012No Comment

To celebrate the releases of LittleBigPlanet Karting and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, SCEE is currently running a couple of massive sales on the PS Store. With dozens of discounts on racing games and some of the most popular franchises on PlayStation 3, it’s easy for the great deals to get lost amongst the not-so-great deals. Never fear though, as PS3 Attitude is here with our picks of the titles you’d be mad to miss out on.

Racing Deals

ModNation Racers for €7.49/£5.99 (was €14.99/£10.99)

LittleBigPlanet Karting may be out now, but gamers on a budget could do a lot worse than spending £5.99 on its sister game ModNation Racers instead. Having been out for two and a half years, the title comes with a readymade library of user-created tracks, meaning that you’ll pretty much never run out of content. Those curious about the Vita version may also be interested to know that ModNation Racers: Road Trip can be picked up for the same price.

MotorStorm: Apocalypse for €7.49/£5.99 (was €14.99/£12.99)

Gamers who like their racers a little more hardcore should definitely take a look at MotorStorm: Apocalypse for £5.99. The game relocates the series from the deserted wilderness to the inner city. Don’t take that to mean MotorStorm has forgotten its roots and joined the me-too brigade though, because the festival takes place during a major natural disaster, with helicopters crashing and buildings collapsing as you race. Lunatics unite!

Ridge Racer: Ultimate Edition for €12.99/£9.99 (was €24.99/£19.99)

The latest handheld Ridge Racer was a launch title for the PS Vita, and was rightfully panned for its lack of content and subsequently high price. Don’t judge it too harshly though, because the racing itself is as good as ever, and the Ultimate Edition includes all available DLC, which includes new vehicles, courses and music tracks. At £9.99, this is a respectable choice for Vita racing fans who don’t want to spend £40 on Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

PlayStation All-Stars Deals

inFamous for €7.99/£6.49 (was €14.99/£10.99)

We’re ashamed to say it, but when discussing the best games on PS3, inFamous tends to get buried under the Uncharteds and LittleBigPlanets of this world. That’s a real crime though, because Sucker Punch’s open-world superhero game is an absolute delight to play, and at £6.49 is a fantastic deal. The game’s karma system also means you’ll likely want to complete it twice; once as a goody two shoes and again as a murderous psychopath – we wonder which is more fun.

The Jak and Daxter Trilogy for €14.99/£10.99 (was €29.99/£19.99)

To while away the time before Jak 4 (come on Sony, announce it already!), you can spend just £10.99 on The Jak and Daxter Trilogy, and get three of the best PS2 games of all time on PS3, with HD graphics, 3D implementation and PSN Trophies. Despite Jak 3 being released eight years ago, the trilogy’s gameplay holds up remarkably well even today. Fellow PS2 platformer collection The Sly Trilogy is also on sale for £9.99, meaning you can get six full games for less than £20!

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for €9.99/£9.99 (was €19.99/£14.99)

By this stage, we expect all PS3 owners have already played through Uncharted 2: Among Thieves several times over. However, if you’ve somehow missed it until now, you can right this rather big wrong in your life by spending a paltry £9.99. Oh, and while you’re at it, a further £6.49 will get you Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune as well. That’s two of the greatest games on PS3 for less than £17; true, the download time will likely drive you insane, but at least the price is right.
