PS3A PlayTime – week of 11 December, 2012

Submitted by on Monday, 24 December 2012No Comment

Come join us once a week where we prove that our spare time isn’t entirely consumed by pounding away at a keyboard, but also by mashing the buttons of our DualShock 3s and Vitas. What games have we been playing? What cool adventures have we been on? It’s PlayTime!

The holidays are upon us now, with Christmas staring right at us from tomorrow. You might be saying to yourself, “boy, that was deep.” Not as deep as some of the discounts the North American PlayStation Store is executing today. Expect an early NA PlayStation Store Refresh to go up today.

Last week’s news fluttered in with the Angry Birds Trilogy receiving not only an add-on pack called Anger Management, but also a surprising update about the retail game coming to PSN as a full game download. We also shared with everyone the Final Fantasy XIII trailer featuring Lightning. If you like CGI girls sliding down poles, you gotta check that out below.

In the games we’ve played this week you may find that a couple of us finally got together in a battle to the teeth for the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale belt. There isn’t actually a belt yet, but isn’t that a swell idea? We also welcome our one and only DolphGB back from a one week discount from all postings.

Let’s take a look at the posts of the past seven days:

First Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trailer revealed

EU PlayStation Store Refresh: 19 December, 2012

NA PlayStation Store Refresh: 18 December, 2012

Angry Birds Trilogy becomes downloadable 8 January, DLC available today

Dokuro on sale for $9.99 until 8 January, coming to Europe this winter

What I’m playing: Haven’t played much this week thanks to the Christmas preparations, but did get a little PSAS:BR in on occasion.

Accomplishments: Nothing of much consequence happened this week in the world of trophies, but there are always those moments in PSAS:BR that just put a big smile on your face. Still haven’t settled on a favourite character yet though.

What I’m watching and reading: Finished off Hunted which was brilliant. Hoping for a second season. Also managed to finally finish Strike Force too, and am already looking forward to the next series.

What I’m playing: Played Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD on the Vita. Haven’t played this game since it marginally came out on the Xbox. Nice to see that it hasn’t changed after all these years.

Accomplishments: Finally reached 2500 trophies. Was aiming to do it before the new year and still have a few days left over.

What I’m watching and reading: Watched some classic Disney movies on Netflix including Rescuers Down Under and The Great Mouse Detective. Oh the memories!

What I’m playing: PlayStation All-Stars, pid (reviewing), Kyntt Underground (reviewing), Smart As…, sixty second shooter Deluxe (PSM), and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Accomplishments: Finally acquired all trophies but four MP trophies in PSASBR on Vita. Next is PS3. I got to play Stefhutch20 online about four or five times. He knows I was playing from my Vita and he from his PS3, but what he doesn’t know is that I was beating him while on the toilet! LOL!!!

What I’m watching and reading: Finally watched Pixar’s Brave with the family. Season 1 of Son’s of Anarchy is done and I’m five episodes into season 2. Waiting for season 3 of The Walking Dead to come to Netflix, more episodes of Bones and Castle to come to Hulu+.

What I’m playing: Dead Or Alive 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Tales of Graces f, Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend Vita, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus Vita, LittleBigPlanet Vita, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Accomplishments: Nothing humourous this week but I do feel uncomfortable playing Hyperdimension Neptunia and Dead or Alive when I have company, haha.

What I’m watching and reading: Still reading Resident Evil: Caliban Cove. Watching the latest How I Met Your Mother and Take Me Out. Watched Pocahontas and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
