PS3A PlayTime – week of 1 January, 2013

Submitted by on Monday, 7 January 2013No Comment

Come join us once a week where we prove that our spare time isn’t entirely consumed by pounding away at a keyboard, but also by mashing the buttons of our DualShock 3s and Vitas. What games have we been playing? What cool adventures have we been on? It’s PlayTime!

With the holidays over and us all knee deep into the new year, we here at PS3Attitude must get back to work. The last week was a light news week, but 2013 is filled with purpose and good PlayStation news.

Its going to be hard not to talk about PlayStation 4/Orbis going forward. Also the potential for something big to happen with Vita to get people excited about gaming portably on a PlayStation device. With Android gaming now getting a push from OUYA and NVIDIA, the big three will now have to play some hard ball.

Having said that, look out for more news, reviews, and game announcements to head the new year. Ni No Kuni is one highly anticipated game. We’d like to what games you’re looking forward to in 2013. Let’s take a look at the posts of the past seven days:

Get the full Bioshock experience with the Bioshock: Ultimate Rapture Edition

Demon’s Souls goes digital; Pure White Tendency incoming

What I’m playing: I was travelling this week so I took a break from gaming. Expect me to come back swinging next week…

Accomplishments: No gaming means no trophies or cool moments. Do I get a trophy for driving 500 miles?

What I’m watching and reading: I did get a chance to watch some TV. Particularly enjoyed the Channel 4 Mashup evening, where presenters and stars of regular C4 programmes switched around. Jimmy Carr presented Deal or No Deal better than Noel Edmonds, and all the money won went to charity.

What I’m playing: Played Final Fantasy XIII-2 and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition on the PS3 along with Jetpack Joyride and Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath on the Vita. Tested out Chronovolt as well but wasn’t too fond of the game so I passed on it.

Accomplishments: Been working on getting all the trophies for FFXIII-2. Suffice to say it’s taking a while and will probably last for a few more week…at least.

What I’m watching and reading: Watching How I Met Your Mother and Friday Night Lights (again).

What I’m playing: Smart As… and that’s pretty much it.

Accomplishments: It’s been a busy few weeks so I’ve had almost no time for gaming since a few days before Christmas. Ironically, most of my presents were games – Far Cry 3, The Mass Effect Trilogy, LittleBigPlanet Karting, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed and Sports Champions 2. With a bit of luck I’ll be able to actually play them soon!

What I’m watching and reading: I’ve been partying like it’s 1999 with the odd episode of Friends season 5.

What I’m playing: Unit 13, pid, Knytt Underground (Vita/PS3), Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (Vita), Jetpack Joyride, Treasures of Montezuma Blitz.

Accomplishments: I’m trying to go back to my backlog of Vita games while playing the new stuff. Not only do I have pid and Knytt Underground to review for you guys, but I had to try out Jetpack Joyride with trophies and play some Sonic Racing Transformed on Vita since that cost me money. BTW, Jetpack Joyride is unstable and hard crashed both on the PS3 and Vita.

What I’m watching and reading: Having kids means you read every night and I’ve just today starting a 1 hour quiet reading with my daughter and I, to happen everyday. #newyearsresolutions Watched Thor and The Avengers with my wife, so now she’s all caught up for the next slew of Marvel movies. #findStanLee

What I’m playing: Tales of Graces f, Dead Space, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, New Little King’s Story, Anarchy Reigns, God of War III.

Accomplishments: Finally finished Dead Space 1 though I finished 2 a couple of years or so ago. Enjoyed it, looking forward to the third!

What I’m watching and reading: Still reading Resident Evil: City of the Dead alongside the Archive volumes 1 and 2. Been watching The Big Bang Theory, also watched Arrietty (another brilliant Ghibli movie), The Cube and Celebrity Juice.
