PS3A PlayTime – week of 21 January, 2013
Come join us once a week where we prove that our spare time isn’t entirely consumed by pounding away at a keyboard, but also by mashing the buttons of our DualShock 3s and Vitas. What games have we been playing? What cool adventures have we been on? It’s PlayTime!
With all the February Plus announcements and the devastating, though predictable, closure of THQ this has been quite the week. We played some games and wrote some news. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will likely consume most PS3 owners’ free time and hopefully top the sales charts.
Time to take down those RPGs and/or chip away at your holiday backlog of unplayed games. What have you been playing, accomplishing, reading, and watching? Let us know in the comments section at the end of this week’s PlayTime recap.
Let’s take a look at the posts of the past seven days:
What I’m playing: With the closing of THQ this week, I went on a Darksiders binge playing both games. Can’t believe no one has picked up Vigil yet.
Accomplishments: Slowly working on my massive backlog of games to complete. A little app called Netflix seems to be keeping my gaming at bay, though.
What I’m watching and reading: Not much new on this front. Watched some of the earlier seasons of Futurama.
What I’m playing: Dead or Alive 5, Knytt Underground, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
Accomplishments: In preparation for Dead or Alive 5 Plus on the Vita (yes, I know it doesn’t come out until March – I want to be ready!), I’ve been playing a lot of DOA5 on PS3 this week. You’ve got to love Cross-Save!
What I’m watching and reading: I’ve been suffering with the flu over the last few days, which has been a great excuse to watch The IT Crowd from beginning to end.
What I’m playing: Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable (Vita), Pinball Arcade, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (Vita), Darksiders, LEGO Lord of the Rings (Vita)
Accomplishments: Darksiders was a welcomed addition to my Instant Game Collection. Having never played it before I was floored by the quality, though it definitely felt like a GoW rip off. EDF2017P is hilariously awful. This is what makes it so much fun. That and the crazy number of levels. I’ve managed to beat the whole game with the same two weapons. What does that tell you about the weapons?
What I’m watching and reading: Watched more Little Britain, Sons of Anarchy, and the Lorax. Starting reading Polygon, but I’m going to unsubscribe. Its droll and just consumed my precious time.
