PS3A PlayTime – week of 28 January, 2013

Submitted by on Tuesday, 5 February 2013No Comment

Come join us once a week where we prove that our spare time isn’t entirely consumed by pounding away at a keyboard, but also by mashing the buttons of our DualShock 3s and Vitas. What games have we been playing? What cool adventures have we been on? It’s PlayTime!

There is no denying that this week was a pivotal one for camp PlayStation as they have effectively teased us with the lure of a 20 February reveal. What lies ahead for the future of PlayStation is yet to be known, but much speculation has drummed its way into our eyes and ears from this teaser.

While the inevitable reveal of the PlayStation Orbis, or PS4 if you prefer, is weeks away there is plenty of current gen news to share. Including Grand Theft Auto V being pushed up four months from its original release date. Now it will share New Release shelf space with the AAA Vita title Killzone: Mercenary. I wonder who will take first place in that heated battle.

Lastly, the PS3Attitude editors and writers have been enjoying their games, cinema, and reading materials quite profusely. Some of us have gone back to play some classics from years past while others trek forward through uncharted territories. We seem to like British comedies and new theatrical releases, but what connects us all is our unfaltering love for PlayStation.

Let’s take a look at the posts of the past seven days:

What I’m playing: Played Darksiders II on the PS3 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on the Vita.

Accomplishments: This is my third time playing Ninja Gaiden (1st on original Xbox, then on PS3, and now on Vita) and I’m surprised at how much I enjoy the game. You’d think I’d be better by the third time, but no, the harder difficulties still absolutely decimate me.

What I’m watching and reading: Saw Stand Up Guys in theaters and more Futurama on Netflix.

What I’m playing: Let’s Fish! Hooked On (Vita), Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable (Vita), Cars 2 (PS3), LEGO LotR (Vita), LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 (PS3)

Accomplishments: I realized I had a lot of LEGO games to play. Played Let’s Fish! Hooked On care of Wired Productions and its a real disappointment for Vita’s first native fishing game. Found it hard to put down the Vita while playing through EDF2017P with Pale Wing. She makes the game so much more fun and it has since grown on me from my earlier impressions. I may be seeking out the PS3 iterations of the EDF series now and look forward to EDF 2025.

What I’m watching and reading: I finished Little Britain and didn’t want it to stop. In researching two guys involved I discovered that Matt Lucas was the face of Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Alice and Wonderland starring Johnny Depp. As an American, I have always had an afinity for British comedies, ever since Are You Being Served? I’m fascinated by the different accents. Furthermore, Jason Stathom is my current favorite action star.

What I’m playing: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Dead or Alive 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions: New Little King’s Story, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Final Fantasy XIII and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Accomplishments: Pleased to say that I’m still doing well on Uncharted 3!

What I’m watching and reading: Been reading Resident Evil: Nemesis, been watching The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and the 1990’s animated series of The Amazing Spider-Man.
