Ubisoft today confirmed that the next title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be called Assassin’s Creed IV: black Flag and revealed the first piece of promotional artwork from the game. It features a new assassin dressed in the familiar white hood brandishing a flintlock pistol and cutlass.

Earlier this month, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that a new Assassin’s Creed would be released before April 2014 in an investor’s meeting. He stated that the game would involve a new character and new time period. It would appear that the franchise is headed for open waters and will involve pirates.

Other details include the Assassin’s Creed logo can clearly been seen with a skull in the middle. There’s also what appears to be a fellow compatriot of our new assassin in the background holding someone up. Ubisoft promises that more details about Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be revealed on Monday, March 4 so stay tuned.
