London Anime Con to raise money for GamesAid in partnership with PS3 Attitude
We’re pleased to announce that we have partnered with London Anime Con to raise money for GamesAid with a dedicated ‘Gamer’s Day’ featuring a number of fundraising events throughout the convention. These include ‘donate-to-play’ areas, a cosplay competition, and a GamesAid Charity Auction.
The Charity Cosplay event will be centered around Namco Bandai’s Tales franchise in celebration of their upcoming Tales of Xillia release. Fans will also get the opportunity to play the game at the convention before its official launch this August.
“London Anime Con has grown massively over the last x years and we’re pleased to be expanding it further to include all elements of anime, video gaming and cosplay. Including a Gamer’s Day in the event schedule was a great way to bring everything together, and supporting a great charity like GamesAid is the icing on the cake. We’d like to also thank Namco Bandai for their support and allowing visitors to play Tales of Xillia well before the general public”, explains Michael Towers, organiser of London Anime Con.
For those of you who don’t know, GamesAid is a video games industry based charity that distributes funds across a number of children’s and young people’s charities in the UK. Charities such as SpecialEffect benefit greatly from the funds they receive from GamesAid and donations from gamers everywhere. PS3 Attitude is dedicated to supporting GamesAid, and we couldn’t think of a better way than partnering with London Anime Con.
“We’re really happy to be working with London Anime Con to make Gamer’s Day an integral part of the event and help raise money for GamesAid”, says DolphGB, Editor-in-Chief and Founder of PS3 Attitude. “The bonds that tie anime, J-culture and video games together mean the event just makes sense for all of our readers – we just had to get involved”, he continues.
In addition to Sunday’s ‘Gamer’s Day’, celebrity voice actors Mike Pollock, known as the voice of Dr Eggman, and David Vincent, who has appeared in Super Street Fighter IV, the Tekken series, and BlazBlue, are set to appear.
There will also be a wide range of exhibitors and sponsors, such as GAME, Namco-Bandai, Zen United, Konami, FragRadio and Insomnia Gaming Festival.
Tickets cost £16 if you purchase them in advanced or you can purchase individual day-of tickets at the door for £12 for Saturday and £10 for Sunday. To register, head on over to London Anime Con’s official website. More information about the convention and Gamer’s Day can be found there as well.
