E3 13; PlanetSide 2 coming to PS4
PlanetSide 2, Sony Online Entertainment’s long-awaited sequel to the popular MMOFPS, was originally released as a free-to-play game on PC last year. It was extremely well received by both critics and fans, and Sony has consequently announced a PS4 release for the title.
Widely regarded as one of the best examples of the genre, massively multiplayer online first-person shooters genuinely don’t get much better than PlanetSide 2. With hugely impressive visuals and a massive amount of depth to the gameplay, PSN users have a lot to get excited about (especially after the relative disappointment of CCP Games’ Dust 514 on PS3).
Also getting a next-gen release is fellow Sony Online Entertainment title, DC Universe Online, which first arrived on both PC and PS3 in early 2011, before going F2P later that year. The MMORPG has had great support from SOE ever since, so it’s great to hear that it is also making the jump to PS4.
Between PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online, and the surprise announcement of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn coming to the platform, the PlayStation 4 is fast becoming the go-to console for MMOs.
