Digital sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn temporarily halted

Submitted by on Wednesday, 28 August 2013No Comment

ARRFinal Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the latest MMO and installment in the hugely popular Final Fantasy series, released only earlier this week to have its sales halted.

This is due to current players facing difficulties getting online and immensely long wait times.

This is quite common with MMO’s, but it seems that Square’s efforts at improving the game have paid off after it’s previously disastrous launch on PC back in 2010.

Via their Facebook page, Square have said:

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play. As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

Although this could hurt their sale figures, it’s clear that Square are taking A Realm Reborn much more seriously, starting with customer satisfaction.

What are your thoughts on Square’s decision? Let us know in the usual place below.
