Articles by Danny D
Voted PS3 Attitude's favorite Staff Writer 15 minutes in a row, this undisputed and unrelenting Trophy King is among the weirdest individuals you will ever read from. Or about. Aboot if you're Canadian. Entertainment is the game and you already know his name. It's Danny_D by the way.
Bionic Commandos are not that impressive these days. Sure, they had their shining moment in the 80’s. They even staged a brief comeback in 2008 by rearming themselves and are planning a full 2009 revival by donning dreadlocks and finally daring to jump; but we see through the gimmicks.
Deep down they are all the same commandos we have seen before.
But not this guy. He is the Bionic Fireman.
Mere mortals rejoice! Let your hair grow, grab your black leather jacket, wear your best jeans, throw up the horns and be ready to answer the call of the Metal Gods this Rocktober. Brütal Legend is coming your way; even if you are not worthy.
The Tim Schafer designed, Double fined developed, Electronic Arts published medieval metal adventure (MMA?) is now dated in both North America and Europe.
Can’t get enough Stormrise? Well the Stormrise team can’t get enough of you. You have been formally invited by the Stormrisers to join them tonight (or this morning or afternoon depending on your time zone) for the second ever Stormrisers PlayStation 3 night.
Not only can you play with and against members of the ‘official community website for the game Stormrise’, you will also meet fellow PS3 Stormrisers to have more frequent online matches with. And to top it all off, you get a chance to win some cool Stormrise prizes. We hear one of them might be an in-game or real life old worn out umbrella*.
Talk about a comeback story. After less than optimal global sales for the stellar looking (and stellar playing) Valkyria Chronicles we received great news from the SEGA America Blog. Thanks to all the hard work from the hardcore fans (this humble PS3A cast included), and last week’s DLC release, Valkyria Chronicles is now one the top PS3 games both the United States and Japan.
But how big of an impact could a five month old game have on the American and Japanese markets?
Depending on where you are reading from (or when for that matter), we may be four days late. Never mind that, just say ‘yes’ like the rest of the U.S. did to Jim Carrey’s Yes Man. Dethroning Zack and Miri Make a (very good) Porno is the man who says ‘yes’ to everything. Good thing he doesn’t work in this writer’s office. Them co-workers is brutal.
Do you love SingStar as much as the next guy, provided that the next guy is not this guy? Because we don’t think anybody likes SingStar as much as this guy; not after this. If you do like SingStar at least as half as him (who shall remain nameless) we have some great news for you. SingStar received a global patch today that brings some features that our Europeans brethren already had and then some.
Capcom has reached a landmark deal with the Planet Express delivery company. This deal will enable the North American based online Capcom Store to ship outside North America. Interplanetary shipping is still being negotiated.
Virtua Tennis 2009 is not your average tennis game. Sure you have your tennis pros, real life stadiums, single player, offline and online multi player, tournament and career modes.
But if the picture to your left is any indication, there’s something more. Something that includes pirates. We know what some of you are asking yourselves right now: Will there be ninjas too?*
We got a live one over here! Two for four on the good PlayStation Store updates. This one looks even bigger than the European counterpart, although size isn’t everything. But it helps sometimes. If you know what we mean. Like the size of your proctologist’s fingers. The smaller the better. Think about it.
The chain is broken! After the slim Japanese update and the anorexic Hong Kong update, we are pleased to announce the hefty European update to you. The Europeans. Living in Europe. Or stubborn Europeans living abroad. Or non-Europeans dreaming of warm lagers, ministries of funny walks and dead parrots.
Following the not a lot going on here trend, Hong Kong skimps on new Store content today. They even kick it down a notch. We hope this is not contagious like last week’s infection/outbreak/whatever-the-hell-that-was. We’ll call it the “PS Store Incident”.
Get your Flock on in Hong Kong. Be the Monkey King in LBP or get fired up with a MotorStorm II promo video. Damn it, I just gave away the entire Hong Kong PS Store update…Don’t believe us?*
Not a lot going on in Japan’s Store this Thursday, but it won’t matter to those who have a certain demo in their hands. Like the Japanese. In Japan. Or insane importers. Wherever they are in the world. Probably not in Japan.
If you want early access to THQ’s Red Faction: Guerrilla demo you no longer need to pay a stipend to the Qore or even do questionable acts in back alleys and truck stop bathrooms. If you live in Europe that is.
THQ is giving myTHQ Europe members early access to the Red Faction: Guerrilla demo via their website. If you are not a myTHQ member you can sign up for free and get exclusive access to “cool things like this Red Faction: Guerrilla demo.” Will there be other cool things besides the demo?
Break out the Ecto-1 (or was it the Manhattan Spirit?) and get ready to…split up? Yup, according to this latest Ghostbusters “rules” video this is the best way to do more damage. The jury is still out on what gets damaged more, public property or unruly ghosts. We think it’s both.
Bon jour mon ami, how good of you to drop by. “For me to kill you” would probably be the next line heard by Wolverine when he meets the Ragin’ Cajun in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game.
Watch this new video where two new characters that make Wolvie’s life that more difficult are revealed. The first is monsieur Remy LeBeau himself (aka Gambit, duh) and the second is the one character in the X-Men universe that every mutant knows and loves…
The gardens, the grimps, the broken controllers and the holes in the wall. It seems it was just yesterday when we tried to get all seeds in garden 07 only to get all broken DualShock 3′s instead. Sadly, there is no trophy for that. However, there will be new trophies, gardens, music and graphics in the latest Encore by one of our favorite (favourite too) indie developers.
Yes, the rumors were true. The Easter Bunny kidnapped the entire PS3A team over the weekend. We were forced to decorate eggs (laid by the Easter Bunny himself…ewww) and hide them from Jesus. We felt it was best not to ask questions, the Easter Bunny is a scary dude. But now we are free again to give you the best PS3 news we can possibly can. Not for our own personal gain, but for the kids. As the honorable Brodie-san stated, a bit of catch up is needed and it is my turn. I am sorry my fellow Americans, Europe will get to OutRun us this week.
We made it to North America, but for how long?
It was here already; lurking, waiting.
We could feel it; pulsing through us.
It was foolish to think we could do anything.
There is no hope.
Is this the genesis of a new collection of horrors for mankind?
Our universe faces doomsday.
What is left of humanity roams the burning landscape like zombies.
We are left in pain; powerless.
It speaks to me now.
In a way, it always did.
Now I know what we must do; the only thing we can…
We prepared ourselves for the worse.
It didn’t help.
Survivors fled to Europe like flocks of sheep.
They were slaughtered like them too.
Their hails for help went unanswered.
We could do nothing but watch the worms have at them.
We found solace in writing a chronicle of our dark journey; but not for long.
We received word that it was spreading to North America.
Evil taking over in a sinister world tour.
We must follow and try to stop it.
Armed only with fear and uncertainty we sail to America to confront it.
We have no choice really; there is nowhere else to run.
