According to VG247, EA were due to showcase a new console-only DICE game at an event in the UK today.
However, the event has been cancelled due to the snow. Whilst this site is not the place to rant about the fact that the UK goes to pot after 2-3 inches of the cold white stuff, it is a shame that we’ll have to wait to find out what EA have up their thermal sleeves.
Please give a warm welcome and a comforting hot drink (with cookies) to our latest writer, ‘whoelse’.
Whoelse joins PS3 Attitude as a Contributor and will be adding his unique view on the wonderful world of the PlayStation 3 as we take PS3 Attitude through 2009.
Whoelse describes himself as an avid gamer who has a passion for all things PlayStation. He loves his iPod Touch too, and his favourite vegetable is sweetcorn, “because it’s tasty, especially compared to peas… I hate peas!”.
Despite all the negative press about Sony’s profits (or lack of) recently, it appears that they do understand that in a down economy you need to flash some marketing cash to help pull yourself up.
And that is precisely what Sony have planned for Killzone 2 – a £2m spending spree that will see, amongst other things, the neatest sounding web-based game we’ve heard of for some time.
A lot has been written about the PS3′s ‘weak’ sales and the never-ending (it seems) battle with Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
Some of what is written is sheer fiction. Some of it is funny. Some of it makes you shout OMGWTFSTFUBBQ!
But what are the facts? Armed with some interesting new details from our friends at Gamezine, and a smattering of our own research, we take a deeper look…
The makers of X-Blades continue to send us tasty morsels from the forthcoming ‘hack-n-slash-em-up’, but we must admit that these new screens are a little, well, cheeky.

Our ‘Best DLC’ award winners for 2008 are at it again. Criterion are about to release yet another free update for Burnout Paradise.

So what can you expect from this latest downloadable delectation?
We already talked about Flower this week, the forthcoming casual game from thatgamecompany, when we revealed the February 12th release date.
Hopefully that gameplay video we showed made you sit back and appreciate just what the PS3 is capable of. Now, we can reveal some of the startling facts behind this much-anticipated title.
Some of our regular readers will have no doubt already spotted the Twitter widget that has appeared in the sidebar at PS3 Attitude.
We thought it would be a good idea to explain what we’ll be using Twitter for, and why you’ll want to keep an eye on our feed.
Our beloved PS3 is about to gain another upgrade through Firmware v2.60.
The evergreen Eric Lempel of SCEA has been detailing the latest features in the video below, which include some excellent new photo management capabilities though the new Photo Gallery software as well as a DivX upgrade and guest access to the PS Store.

One thing is for sure; when it comes to creating LittleBigPlanet content, I’m a newbie.
And when I see levels like Ultimate Pinball Challenge – created by the obviously talented UrbanDevil – it makes me wonder if I will ever generate anything that even comes close to ‘downright average’, let alone ‘ultimate’.
The best thing to do? Let everyone else keep coming up with awesome levels like this one and then play the field…
If you’re struggling to find the most inventive levels, don’t forget to swing by the MM blog for their weekly picks. That is, after all, where we found Mr. Devil’s moment of genius. (video after the jump)
Simply beautiful, and certainly one of this particular author’s most anticipated releases for 2009, Flower has got a release date; 12th February.
Although we haven’t been told what price Flower will go for, we’re pretty sure it’ll be cheaper than a dozen real roses and might just convince your other half that the PlayStation 3 really is value for money. Want to see what I mean? Video after the jump…
Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. will be with us soon, and Ubisoft have been inundated with questions over at the official H.A.W.X. forums regarding this flight-em-up title.
So rather than make you wade through reams of forum posts to discover the answers, Ubi were good enough to distil the most frequently asked questions into a single document.
So if you’re wondering what the FAQ Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. is all about, read on…
A very quick reminder that the Prince of Persia Charity Auction will close tomorrow, 17th January at 17:25 UK time.
This is your last ever opportunity to own the incredible prize pack – including that 1 in 200 art print of the Prince – and help us raise more funds for our supported cause.
Even if you’re not bidding, please take a few moments to tell all your friends about it – thanks for anything you can do to help spread the word…
The PS3 browser has always done a pretty good job of showing YouTube videos, especially since YouTube themselves started supporting 720p resolution.
But that is all about to get a lot better.
Don’t worry – she’s not getting married.
Our friends at ThreeSpeech have a great competition going right now. When you enter, you’ll be added to the list of people who could walk away with one of two copies of Tomb Raider: Underworld.
Not content with just getting the game for free? You’ll be pleased to hear that both copies have been signed by model Keeley Hawes, the voice of Lara Croft.
Killzone 2 is one of those titles that is making us all very excited.
Whilst you’ll have to wait for PS3 Attitude’s review and hands-on impressions, PlayStation Official Magazine UK have weighed in with their review, and it doesn’t disappoint.
“Dear Square Enix; I’m confused. And if I’m confused then maybe others are confused. And confusion – let me remind you – is the enemy of game sales.
You see, you have so many RPG titles coming out in 2009 for the PlayStation 3, I really don’t know which way to turn and what to buy…”
