Editor-in-Chief, Founder and all-round Big Cheese at PS3 Attitude. Despite it not having a sound chip of any description, I once wrote a working music creation application for the ZX-81...
During our preview of James Cameron’s Avatar, a forthcoming third-person shooter that will fully support 3D televisions, we came to an instant conclusion.
With asymmetric forces, lush environments and the ability to choose which faction you support, it reminded us of a similar, yet ill-fated project.
Based on the upcoming sci-fi movie, which will also be available in 3D at cinemas, this third-person shooter is based on the Far Cry 2 engine – something it immediately has going for it.
Along with our preview of Alpha Protocol, SEGA gave us a preview of Bayonetta. Not only that, but producer Yusuke Hashimoto himself held the controller to give us the very best experience.
The very first thing you notice is just how damn good this game looks. The graphics are outstanding, and every animation is smooth as silk. Which is handy, given the amount of the stuff our sexy witch wears (and rubber, leather etc.).
But as he played through the game, Hashimoto-san had a surprisingly powerful new weapon to reveal to us.
SEGA gave PS3 Attitude a preview of Alpha Protocol, their forthcoming ‘espionage RPG’, this morning at Gamescom in Cologne.
The first thing that impresses in this espionage RPG is the level of customisation, combined with a slick graphical style that screams of your favourite spy movies.
But what surprised us is the depth of the game and the amount of time you’ll need to find everything it offers.
We’re at GamesCom in Cologne this year, and the first order of the day is to cover the much-anticipated Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Press Conference.
Whilst the rest of the Internet has been awash with rumour and speculation, as usual we at PS3 Attitude have bit our lips (and kept the ‘Drawer of Secrets’ locked), preferring instead to wait for the official word.
And now that word comes to you via our people on the ground, (almost) live from Germany.
By way of some extra inspiration for our awesome Design the Official PS3A Sackboy competition – where you can get your hands on one of those uber-rare LBP Golden Crowns – some of the staff here at PS3 Attitude decided to design their own entries.
Well, when we say ‘entries’, we really mean ‘inspiration’, since none of the team here at Attitude Towers are allowed to enter for real.
And when we say ‘design’, well… why don’t you decide for yourself!
TikGames and Creat Studios, the nice people who brought you games like Cuboid and Magic Ball, have another PSN title ready to launch; Smash Cars is coming to the network on 20th August.
Naturally, since this is a follow-up of the original Smash Cars title launched back in 2003, this is a ‘no rules’ RC car racing game, and promises to be a lot of fun.
Assassin’s Creed 2 is lining up to be one of the biggest PS3 releases ever, which means anyone associated with the title is bound to either be a big name or become one quite soon.
Today, it has been announced that none other than Danny Wallace is playing the part of Shaun Cummings in the swords and sandals sequel. And if there’s one guy we love at PS3 Attitude, it’s Mr. Wallace.
GAME are offering a special pre-order bonus for those of you who want to get DiRTy once again.
If you pre-order Colin McRae’s DiRT 2 right now, you’ll get ‘early access’ to the Subaru STI with an exclusive DC Livery.
Need for Speed Shift is the latest in the long-running franchise from EA. And whilst various versions of the game haven’t always hit the right spot, the new edition certainly seems to be rustling a few feathers.
Whilst much of the marketing for this game thus far has centred around the real-life drivers that helped shape the game, we now get to see some actual screenshots.
And we think GT5 might be feeling a little nervous…
PS3 Attitude is more than a website; we’re an entire movement dedicated to raising funds for charities. The more visitors we get, the more money we make – and we give it all away.
So in addition to what you see here, you’ll find us all over the Internet, spreading the word.
Here’s a quick guide to how you can get more involved with the site, have some fun and win prizes along the way.
Oh, and then there’s the whole Killzone 2 Clan thing…
The Hut are a UK-based online retailer who have been making waves in the industry. Listed in last year’s Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 annual league table, they’re a company on the move.
But we think they may have gone slightly mad of late.
Yesterday they offered Batman: Arkham Asylum for pre-order at a ridiculous knock-down price, and today they’ve followed suit with Assassin’s Creed 2.
As you may know, PS3 Attitude is an official media partner for Edinburgh Interactive 09. You can always find all the latest news regarding the event here.
So without further ado, here is our full and complete show preview, helping you get the best from the event.
We love competitions and giveaways here at PS3 Attitude. Heck, every Tuesday we even rebrand the site to ‘PSFree Attitude’ in honour of our weekly Twitter-based freebie-fest.
But this week we’ve got something really special for y’all. Yes, we’re offering you the chance to get your hands on one of the rarest of commodities for your precious Sackboy – a Golden Crown.
So what do you need to do to win this glistening ode to your creativity and awesomeness?
Need for Speed Shift has started moving up a gear and is now preparing to take over YouTube with some great new trailers.
To warm you up for the event we have a teaser trailer featuring top drivers such as Vaughn Gittin Jr., Tommy Milner and others who worked hand-in-hand with the dev team at Slightly Mad Studios to take Shift to the next level.
Good day dear readers.
The swanky new login bar we implemented recently just didn’t work out. Once we’d got it home, it started re-arranging all our furniture and brought it’s pet bug collection along with it, so we had to be cruel to be kind and kick it out on the street.
But here’s the good news…
LucasArts have announced that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will see further expansion this Autumn through a new downloadable level that promises to take the story in a new direction.
In addition, they also announced Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition, a special new version of the game that will show gamers the deepest, darkest side of the Force in a story that puts them on a collision course with Luke Skywalker himself.
The Ultimate Sith Edition will include all of the original missions found in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as well as content previously only available via download and an all-new exclusive bonus level.
As is our want here at PS3 Attitude, we like to get involved with the politics of gaming every now and then.
On reading the report that Nathan Hartley, an 18-year-old from Maryland in the United States had been sentenced to seven years in prison for an act we’d never heard of before – ‘door-checking’ – what sparked our interest was the insistence that this activity is an integral part of Grand Theft Auto.
But rather than tow the sensationalist line, we asked the prosecutor in this case, John Mark McDonald, what really happened and why GTA was even brought into this courtroom, since we don’t remember seeing this activity in the game at all.
We’re big fans of SingStar here at PS3 Attitude, and the already burgeoning song catalogue is about to take another leap forward.
Today, Sony have announced a deal that will bring a whole slew of Universal Music UK tracks to the SingStore for download over the next few weeks.
So what can we look forward to warbling along to?
Castle Crashers has been a bit of a ‘diamond in the rough’ on Xbox Live Arcade since it became available for download last August.
The game, best described as a 2D sideways scrolling brawler, has even managed minor cult status, along with the obligatory ‘fan art’ movement, thanks to the quirky art style and characters.
Now, Castle Crashers is coming to the PSN and if you’re in San Diego at Comic-con, you can get your hands on the game at the event.
