I have been an avid gamer since I learned how to hold a controller. My favorite games include Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Mega Man, Ratchet & Clank, Resident Evil; the list could probably go on forever. I am also a big movie and television junkie. Pretty much anything technological or entertainment-related will satisfy my curiosity.
Arkham Asylum is home to the most dangerous villains in Gotham City, all of which have quite the hatred towards our caped crusader. It looks like the Scarecrow just might get the chance to extract his revenge with the help of his skeleton army.Exclusive to those who pre-order the game, players be able to download the Scarecrow Challenge Map and face your fears against the undead.
We had the opportunity to talk with Mario Wynands, the Managing Director of Sidhe, about their upcoming PSN title, Shatter. The game, developed and published for the PlayStation Network by the team, is a re-imaging of the retro brick breaking genre. What sets it apart from the rest is the ability to ‘suck and blow,’ giving the player more control over the course of the ball.
In our exclusive interview with the team, Mario talk about the creation of BAT1138, our hero of the story (yes, there is a story involved), and what makes Shatter so different for all the other games out there. By the end of it all, you’ll be itching for some brick breaking action.
If you’ve watched any of the trailers for Shatter, you’ve probably heard the amazing musical score that accompanies the retro gameplay with a twist. In an exclusive interview with PS3 Attitude, Mario Wynards, Managing Director of Sidhe, has stated that the game includes “over 90 minutes of high quality original music.â€
The Beatles have composed over 200 songs so narrowing down the list to 45 for their upcoming version of Rock Band could be a difficult task. Announced at this years E3 were the initial ten that would be included in the game; “I Saw Her Standing There,†“I Want To Hold Your Hand,†“I Feel Fine,†“Taxman,†“Day Tripper,†Back In The USSR,†“I Am The Walrus,†“Octopus’s Garden,†“Here Comes The Sun,†and “Get Back.â€
We now have the next fifteen that are to be included, bringing the total to 25. With only a fraction of tracks left, any guesses on what songs are to be announced next?
In case you were wondering, that spells “Retro/Grade Coming to PS3″ in reverse. No we’re not crazy, but perhaps the people at 24 Carat Games are.
You see, they have devised a game that you play in reverse! The game stars fighter pilot Rick Rocket and he has just saved the universe. Only problem is, he reversed the flow of time from all of that destruction. Now, it’s your opportunity to fight through space and time…backwards of course.
Come August Call of Duty: World at War players will have four new maps to reign destruction upon. Included in Map Pack 3, are three new multiplayer maps along with a new zombie map for the undead in all of us. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be an additional ten new trophies to earn.
This weeks PSN video update is rather lacking in the movies department. There are plenty of no name films to choose from as well as direct-to-DVD sequels we have come to love. Oh, and don’t forget the Jonas Brothers. They’re there too. Probably the best on the list would be Knocked Up. Anything with Seth Rogan gets an A in our book.
Probably what will get most people excited is the UFC content on the store. All the fights from season 2 are there as well as a few All Access fighters from season 1. If you’re an MMA fan, then this is your week.
That’s exactly what you’ll be doing because the thing is in Japanese! From what we saw, it looks like the game will be in 1080p, have multiplayer, and possibly co-op. We also saw a “30” thrown in among the Japanese characters which just so happens to be the amount of levels in the game.
The trailer follows in the wackiness that is associated with the Katamari franchise so this doesn’t really come as a surprise to us. What does though, are the sweet new Home digs that Japanese players will get…
Are you one of those people who must obtain the best equipment when playing Guitar Hero? If so, then you might want to listen up as Logitech, one of the leading manufacturers of peripherals, have announced their new drum kit for Guitar Hero on PS3.
This wireless drum controller, complete with drum heads with recessed rims, will cost you a pretty penny though as it doesn’t come cheap. Just exactly how much you ask?
Activision and Luxoflux are busy working on a batch of new content for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Scheduled to launch later this summer on the PSN, the DLC will bring new characters, maps, campaigns, and more to the movie-based game.
The PSN has a ton of content from the classic PlayStation games to even PlayStation Portable ones. Today marks a new step for the network as PC Engine, aka TurboGrafx to us, games have been added for your playing pleasure.
The titles to appear are Bomberman ’94, New Adventure Island (Takahashi Meijin no Shin Boukenjima), Sengoku Mahjong, and Devil Crush. While they are currently only available on the Japanese PSN for Â¥600, we imagine that this could become a more worldwide occurrence.
In the past we’ve talked about how Collector’s Editions are either a hit or miss. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it is a hit of epic proportions.
Dubbed the Prestige Edition, CoD:MW2 will include fully functional night vision goggles. Yep, you heard us correctly. Now instead of squinting to see what appears to be a shadow in the house next door, you can put these bad boys on and become the peeping Tom you’ve always wanted to be.
Progamming for the PS3 has been a bit of a hassle for many developers. In an effort to teach’em while they’re young, Sony is rolling out a new PS3 Academic Development Programme.
Currently in a closed beta, the academic PS3 dev kits, referred to as mini-devs, include a consumer sized PS3 with a low power function, two USB ports, and a full SDK.
Music has become an integral part of video games; sometimes becoming more popular than the game itself. Every gamer probably knows the tune to Super Mario Bros. or recognizes the heavy metal found in the Devil May Cry series. There are even entire concerts dedicated to the music of these games.
Now, gamers can listen to their favorite video game music via a new social website, Playnit. If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen its advertisements up on N4G but have yet to click the link. Perhaps you should give it a try, what could it hurt?
If you haven’t noticed 2D fighters are currently in. From the highly successful Street Fighter IV, the recently released BlazBlue, and the upcoming King of Fighters XII, it looks like fans can’t get enough of them.
Announced for the PSN, Aksys Games brings us yet another 2D fighter; Battle Fantasia. Set in a magical world filled with light and dark, heroes fight in an endless struggle between the two. What sets the game apart from all other fighters is its unique RPG elements.
We knew that the ex-exclusive Xbox 360 Fallout 3 DLC would come to the PS3 eventually and when Bethesda announced Operation: Anchorage and more, we couldn’t help but get excited.
We now have a clearer update as to when exactly these expansions will be coming to the PSN thanks to Ashley Cheng over at the PlayStation.Blog. While all five DLC packs will make it to the system, Broken Steel will have the honor of being the first.
This weeks PSN Video update is very Sci-Fi heavy with Nicolas Cage’s Knowing and the Jumper look-alike, Push.
Also included is a film that we highly recommend, The Matador, if you’re into documentaries. For the WTF list, Evil Bong II: King Bong probably takes the cake.
We are excited about the upcoming brick-breaking game that is Shatter from Sidhe. After watching the initial video and then giving it a test run at E3, the game is shaping up to be a hit on the PSN. Come July 27th, you’ll be able to download the game exclusively on the PSN for $7.99.
It looks like the aliens have been busy in the baby making department as a whole new breed has spawned thanks to the folks over at Team17. The upcoming Alien Breed Evolution is a remake of the classic game originally released on the Amiga in 1991.
The game will feature fast paced action via single player and co-op. You must navigate your way through corridors and hallways in search of the lift down to the next level, all the while blasting though enemy aliens.
