It has been days since any of us have been able to log into the PlayStation Network. Try and you’ll be the recipient of the now infamous PSN Error Message 80710A06.

Online matches, downloads, chat, etc. have all been put on extended hiatus due to ‘an external intrusion’. So exactly is Sony doing to fix the problem?

The very solid slate of special offers from last week will remain throughout this week’s update as well. So if you haven’t done so already check out the rundown of discounted titles because it’s a pretty notable bunch.

But if you say ‘nay’ to such fine discounts perhaps you will find The Fancy Pants Adventures or a full game download of ModNation Racers to your liking. Just promise us you won’t download Battle: Los Angeles. Better yet if you’re thinking about purchasing the movie tie-in how about redirecting your funds to support your favorite charitable PS3 site?

New details concerning the multiplayer modes to be featured in the upcoming Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception have bubbled up.

Gamers will get a chance to test out some of the game’s newest modes via the upcoming beta. Multiplayer looks quite deep for a game which initially burst on the scene as a dedicated solo experience. But don’t take our word for it, check out the video that Naughty Dog has kindly provided.

This week’s offering is somewhat abbreviated. Even the ever-potent slate of downloadable content has pumped the brakes.

There are some fine downloads to be had here but let’s just say that it’s a good thing that Portal 2, Mortal Kombat and SOCOM 4 will keep you busy this week. In any event take a glance at the update, maybe you’ve been waiting for the Prince of Persia trilogy bundle.

Of all the aspects that went into developing SOCOM 4, one of the most unheralded may be the musical score. Proper music can take a gameplay experience to a much deeper level of immersion.

Perfecting the score of SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs was an undertaking that Sony Computer Entertainment took very seriously. This video is certainly proof of that.

In Battlefield 3 gamers may at long last have a shooter that can rival the Call of Duty franchise. Scheduled for release this autumn, Battlefield 3 aims to take strip the FPS giant of its title as top shooter.

Whether or not the game will be able to achieve such a lofty goal remains to be seen but these screenshots show us that it will definitely be formidable aesthetically.

Zipper sets the stage for SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs

The SOCOM franchise has been one of the flagship institutions of the PlayStation brand. To date a total of nine games have been released exclusively on the PS2, PSP and PS3.

The latest addition to the series, SOCOM 4, is set to be released on April 19 in the US and April 22 in the UK. The developers at Zipper Interactive have taken it upon themselves to present the game that they have created in this video.

It seems that Beenox did such a fantastic job with the Spider-Man franchise with the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions that they have been given the opportunity to revisit the beloved comic in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

‘Tis a good week PlayStation fans. Not a great week but more importantly not a barren one either.

Spring Fever 2011 comes to a close with the genre-bending StarDrone and a pair of discounted games that warrant your attention. Downloadable content this week is very Yoostar 2 and Test Drive Unlimited 2 heavy. If you enjoyed Stacking you’ll be pleased to find a brand new DLC pack available for download. As per usual there are plenty of videos, themes and wallpapers to be had. Check it out.
