PS3A PlayTime: 15th-21st July 2013

It’s been a slightly random week for the PS3 Attitude team, with a large variety of games getting some play time, including Aliens: Colonial Marines, Dead or Alive 5, The Walking Dead, Yakuza 3, and …

PS3A PlayTime: 8th-14th July 2013

As predicted, The Last of Us is PS3 Attitude’s most played game of the last week. To be honest I’m starting to run out of great things to say about it, so I kind of hope another game takes the top spot next time (although I somehow doubt it). Thankfully, the Steam Summer Sale and MitchJay’s Japanophilic tendencies both help to inject some much-needed variety into today’s PlayTime.

PlayTime: 1st-7th July 2013

Once again, The Last of Us has been at the very forefront of PS3 Attitude’s play time this week and, judging by its four weeks at the top of the UK videogame chart, we’re not the only ones. Also getting some action this week were quirky JRPG Time and Eternity, the surprisingly decent Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, and great-looking racing sequel Grid 2.

PS3A PlayTime: 24th-30th June 2013

As you could probably expect from the way the whole PS3 Attitude team raved about it last time, The Last of Us has been all over this week’s play time once again. It’s pretty rare for every PS3A team member to play the same game within a single week (in fact, we’re not sure if it’s ever happened before!), which just goes to show how incredible Naughty Dog’s epic really is.

PS3A PlayTime: 17th-23rd June 2013

One game in particular has been dominating the team’s play time this week. You can probably guess which title I’m talking about, but just for the sake of clarity: it’s The Last of Us… obviously. At a time when the industry is almost entirely focused on next-gen, it’s good to know we can always rely on Naughty Dog to remind us just how good PS3 gaming can get.

E3 13; PS3A PlayTime: E3 Special

Hello and welcome to the PS3A PlayTime: E3 Special! This week, not only will the PS3 Attitude team be sharing which games have been absorbing our lives over the last couple of weeks, but we’ll also reveal our favourite moments of E3 2013. With game designers making announcements left, right and centre, there’s a lot for us to get through; so let’s get started, shall we?

E3 13; PlanetSide 2 coming to PS4

PlanetSide 2, Sony Online Entertainment’s long-awaited sequel to the popular MMOFPS, was originally released as a free-to-play game on PC last year. It was extremely well received by both critics and fans, and Sony has consequently announced a PS4 release for the title.

E3 13; Sony still serious about supporting indie developers

Recently, Sony has made a huge effort in welcoming indie developers onto PlayStation platforms, and the results speak for themselves; incredible original experiences like Journey and The Unfinished Swan, and impressive ports such as Thomas Was Alone and Terraria. So it’s pretty frickin’ awesome to hear that this philosophy will continue with the PlayStation 4.

E3 13; PS Plus subscriptions will rollover onto PS4

Without a doubt, the most welcome news to come out of Sony’s conference was that the PS4 will support used games, and won’t require an internet connection. But almost as good as that was the fact that PlayStation Plus subscriptions will incorporate PS4 games and features at no additional cost.

E3 13; This massive Metal Gear Solid V trailer will blow your mind

Let’s be honest; the reveal of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in March was undermined just a bit by the fact that everyone had already made the connection between The Phantom Pain and MGS back in December. For this reason, it’s vital that the game is presented in a positive light at E3. Well, we’ve watched the trailer, and Kojima doesn’t need to worry.

E3 13; Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy’s The Division

Undoubtedly the biggest surprise to come out of Ubisoft’s conference yesterday was the announcement of Tom Clancy’s The Division. The publisher arguably stole the show at E3 2012 with Watch Dogs, so could it be possible they’ve done the same this year with The Divide?

Judging by the first footage, they just might have.

E3 13; Ubisoft releases new Watch Dogs trailer

Watch Dogs was easily the most interesting game to be announced at last year’s E3. With its November release date approaching, Ubisoft is understandably keen to ensure people are still talking about it this year, so the publisher has released a new trailer ahead of its press conference later today.

E3 13; PS3 Attitude’s hopes and expectations

With the next console generation very nearly upon us, next week is surely destined to become the biggest E3 since 2005. Quite clearly, Sony’s focus will be on making sure they present the PlayStation 4 in the best light possible, but there’s still plenty to look forward to seeing on PS Vita and even PS3 too. Here are the PS3A team’s hopes and expectations for E3 2013!

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 1st-7th June 2013

As was probably obvious for the week before E3, the last seven days saw an unusually high number of announcements and other news-worthy stories (although we predict that it’ll all seem like absolutely nothing compared to next week!).

The rise and fall of Ratchet & Clank

The rise and fall of Ratchet & Clank

In the days of the PS2, if you asked me what my favourite videogame series was, I almost certainly would have said Ratchet & Clank. It’s somewhat depressing then, that the last couple of R&C games seemed hell-bent on destroying everything that was good about the series. This is one disillusioned fan’s take on the revered rise and unfortunate fall of Ratchet & Clank.
