PS3A PlayTime: 27th May-2nd Jun 2013

Firstly, apologies for the slightly late PlayTime post this week, but unfortunately this was due to circumstances out of our control. But anyway, the good news is that now we’re back and better than ever! Well, we’re back at least. Hit the link to discover which games took our fancy this week (and yes, Persona does feature, just in case you were worried).

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 25th-31st May 2013

Another week, another PS3A Weekly Roundup! It’s been a fairly quiet seven days in the videogame industry (presumably all the big publishers are saving their big announcements for E3!), but there’s still been plenty to think about.

Unfortunately DolphGB is still on the road this week, but the rest of us have been trying to fit in as much gaming as possible to make up for it. Specifically, Majiesto has been kicking back with his Vita, MitchJay92 has been beating up superheroes (and playing Persona… obviously), and I’ve taken it upon myself to play as many different games as possible.

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 18th-24th May 2013

Although the biggest news of the week concerned a certain other company and their next set-top box games console, there was still plenty to talk about in the world of PlayStation.

PS3A PlayTime: 13th-19th May 2013

It’s been a fairly busy week for the PS3 Attitude team, but we still managed to squeeze in a bit of good ol’ fashioned gaming. Getting some play time this week were Final Fantasy XIII, Knytt Underground, Spec Ops: The Line, Terraria, Persona 4: Arena, Persona 4: Golden and Persona 3: Portable (no prizes for guessing who’s been playing those last three!).

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 6th-17th May

Hello and welcome to a bumper edition of the PS3A Weekly Roundup, as the feature moves to Friday evenings. Here is what’s been happening on the site and in the world of videogames over the last week (well, actually the last 11 days).

More FuturLab awesomeness coming to PS Vita

Velocity Ultra, the Vita version of FuturLab’s critically acclaimed PS mini, was released a couple of days ago on the European PS Store. It’s even free for PlayStation Plus subscribers, but the team isn’t stopping there!

Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3 later this year

Yesterday evening, Sony announced the future of Gran Turismo at the franchise’s 15th Anniversary event at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix. It turns out that its future is in Gran Turismo 6, which (as has been widely reported across the internet over the last few weeks) is coming to PS3 this winter.

PS3A PlayTime: 6th-12th May 2013

It’s been a long time coming, but there’s some much needed variety in today’s PS3 Attitude PlayTime. This week’s videogame playlist included an eclectic mix of Final Fantasy XIII, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Persona 4 (on PS2!), Soul Sacrifice, Spec Ops: The Line and Thomas Was Alone. OK, it’s perhaps not a massive departure, but it’s definitely progress!

If you bet that this week Majiesto has been playing Soul Sacrifice, MitchJay92 has been playing every Persona game ever made, and I’ve been playing BioShock Infinite and Final Fantasy XIII, then I have very good news: you win! Yes, like the ever-predictable people that we are, we’ve been playing those same games yet again. But there’s always next week, right?

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 29th Apr-5th May 2013

This week, PS3 Attitude heard from upcoming games Diablo III, Killer Is Dead, Persona 4: Arena, and a little-known title called something like Grand Theft Auto V. We also saw the formation of a new studio in France, and posted our definitive review of the superb indie platformer Thomas Was Alone.

Thomas Was Alone – The PS3 Attitude Review

The inventive puzzle-platformer Thomas Was Alone has been described by its creator, Mike Bithell, as ‘a game about rectangles and friendship’. However, as you may have guessed from the somewhat melancholy title, there’s a lot more going on here than that.

PS3A PlayTime: 22nd-28th Apr 2013

We know you won’t believe it, but this week there’s been a massive shakeup and we’ve all been playing completely new games that haven’t been featured in PlayTime ever before! Oh, actually scratch that; on closer inspection, it looks like we’ve all been playing exactly the same games that we played last week. It’s an easy mistake to make – sorry about that.

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 22nd-28th Apr 2013

It’s been a pretty quiet week in the industry, with no major releases or announcements. Even so, we still got some interesting titbits of info, including a US release date for obscure JRPG Dragon’s Crown, and the news that PS Move survival horror Until Dawn has added DualShock 3 controls (probably a good thing).

This week, DolphGB got sucked even further into the intriguing world of Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, Majiesto prepared himself for the arrival of Soul Sacrifice on PS Vita with its super-sized demo, MitchJay92 realised that Persona isn’t the only videogame franchise that exists, and I took a trip into the clouds with the incredible BioShock Infinite.

This week’s leading article was our review of the awesome 2D platformer Guacamelee. It’s rare for a game to come pretty much out of nowhere and floor everyone with its superb quality, but that’s exactly what DrinkBox has managed with the studio’s latest release.

Guacamelee! – The PS3 Attitude Review

Guacamelee! is the latest title from DrinkBox Studios, the Toronto-based developer behind the awesome Tales From Space series on PS3 and PS Vita. Available for both consoles, the team’s latest project is a Metroidvania-style 2D platformer that stars a Mexican farmer named Juan Aguacate, who finds himself in a bit of a pickle when he is killed five minutes into the game.

As always, we’ve been playing an extremely eclectic selection of games this week, from visual novels to JRPGs, 2D platformers to first-person shooters. The biggest hit of the week was undoubtedly DrinkBox’s Guacamelee!, which has been wowing us with its incessant charm and entertaining gameplay (keep your eyes peeled for a full review very soon!).

The PS3A Weekly Roundup: 8th-14th Apr 2013

This week, Warner Bros. made all our dreams come true with the announcement of a new Arkham game. Unfortunately it’s not being developed by Rocksteady Studios, but more Batman sounds good to us!
