GDC09; The GDC Choice Awards – Winners and Losers

It was red carpet and beard combing time over at San Francisco last night as the luminaries of the gaming industry gathered together to slap their peers on the back and tell each other: “Your game rocked! No, YOUR game rocked!”

The fact is: a lot of games rocked last year so this was always going to be a tight contest.

Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X; the PS3 Attitude Review

There are no two ways about it. The Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X is big. Really big.

Having a sizeable peripheral could be seen as a boon or a millstone. If size is important to you, if lengthy and vaguely pornographic product names appeal and if having something substantial in both your hands when you play is important, you’re going to love the T.Flight Hotas X.

Thankfully, those aren’t the only things going for this mammoth device…

Resident Evil 5; the PS3 Attitude Review

Mention ‘survival horror’ and what is the first thing that comes to mind?

For most video game enthusiasts, that would be ‘Resident Evil’. The fifth installment, although technically the seventh in the main series, has garnered a lot of heat from issues of racism to the exclusion of ‘run-and-gun’ controls.

With the highly successful Resident Evil 4 bringing the series to a new level, can 5 live up to its predecessor whilst remaining fresh and new?

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 coming to PS3

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 coming to PS3

It appears that Tecmo are returning to the Sigma well with news appearing today that Ninja Gaiden 2 will be getting the “re-imagining” treatment akin to its predecessor.

Itagaki-san may be no longer with the company (not that he’d touch a PS3 version) but it does raise some interesting questions about the content of the game.

Considering Microsoft published the sequel on the 360, just how much of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will be a port of the original and how much will be a total remake?

CryENGINE 3 coming to PS3

Should Sony steer away from non-gaming features?

Should Sony steer away from non-gaming features?

Since the PS3 was announced, Sony has continually marketed the console as a multi-media device and not just for gaming.

However the PlayStation brand is so strongly associated with gaming it is not so easy to simply shrug off this image and display a more rounded, entertainment-based persona.

With so many other media options available, should Sony focus only on gaming?

Killzone 2 Q&A with Guerrilla Games

Killzone 2 Q&A with Guerrilla Games

Our latest Killzone 2 fix comes to you in the form of a Q&A from the developers themselves, Guerrilla Games. We had to track them down deep in the jungles of the Amazon region of Colombia; we had full network coverage the whole trip so it was ok. That Amsterdam headquarters is a front to confuse ‘the man’.

We talk about lessons learned from Killzone 1 and Killzone: Liberation, the inspiration behind Killzone 2′s Warzone online mode, and even take a challenge from Guerrilla Games. But what about the elephant in the room (aka the E3 2005 footage)? Did we dare bring it up? We’ll make you find out the hard way…

Watchmen; the movie review

With a PSN game available and the movie being marketed inside Home like the end is nigh, Watchmen has had a fair amount of exposure across our favourite console platform.

Friend of the site and movie reviewer Cleric20 of Dark Matters has given us the inside scoop on whether you ought to be watching the Watchmen, or if the silver-screen version of one of the most celebrated novels of all time (graphic or otherwise) dies a super-hero death.

Watchmen: The End Is Nigh – Review

Titan Pack Delayed 2 Weeks

Titan Pack Delayed 2 Weeks

Two weeks ago, we brought you news that Unreal Tournament III was getting an update that would include split-screen and trophies, among various other goodies. Sadly, there will be no update today as Steve Polge, an administrator on the games official forums have announced a delay, to both the Titan Pack and forthcoming patch.

It looks like fans are going to have to wait another two weeks before they can get in some UTIII fun. Here’s what Steve Polge had to say on the matter…

Braid not PSN-bound; Jonathan Blow speaks his mind

Just like everyone else, including Jonathan Blow himself, we were most interested to see yet another ‘Braid coming to PSN’ rumour appear at News 4 Gamers (N4G) recently.

As you may know we don’t do speculation here at PS3 Attitude, so we got in touch with Jonathan to get the official word from the developer himself. The short answer – ‘no’.

The full response is much more colourful…

MGS4 trophies? PSN ID for MGO?

MGS4 trophies? PSN ID for MGO?

Up until now the possibility of MGS4 trophies has been a fallacy; a myth of epic proportions that we could only dream about considering Konami’s insistence that it’s just not something that they were interested in.

With the recent SCENE expansion and as more people get into the extending MGS universe, could that all be changing?

Killzone 2 – a personal precursor

Killzone 2 – a personal precursor

I have to admit, I hadn’t really jumped on the hype train for Killzone 2.

Of course like everyone else I gasped at the now (in)famous video shown at E3 2005, but that gasp soon turned into a sigh when the truth was revealed.

Now that I have the full game in my hands though, I have a new reason for excessive gasping.
