50 Cent has your six in Modern Warfare 2

Chalk this one down to cashing in your celebrity status but it appears that Curtis Jackson (50 Cent to his friends and fans) — while on a visit to Infinity Ward — has snagged one of the multiplayer voice duties in Game of the Year candidate and all round Call of Duty juggernaut Modern Warfare 2.

Stressing that Fiddy is just one of many voices that will be heard in the mutliplayer aspect of the game, Activision revealed that other celebs will also be heard chiming in with the usual “Man down! Medic! Don’t look me in the eye you peon!” battlefield yelps.

Modern Warfare 2 is going to be big, there’s no doubt about it. Not only will gamers be able to get their hands on some awesome night vision goggles but just take a look at the following footage from the multiplayer mode. To describe this in a single word, we’d go with ‘amazing!’

The footage introduces AC130 killstreak reward, which allows you to become the gunner of an AC130 gunship and reign chaos from above.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition revealed [UPDATE]

In the past we’ve talked about how Collector’s Editions are either a hit or miss. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it is a hit of epic proportions.

Dubbed the Prestige Edition, CoD:MW2 will include fully functional night vision goggles. Yep, you heard us correctly. Now instead of squinting to see what appears to be a shadow in the house next door, you can put these bad boys on and become the peeping Tom you’ve always wanted to be.

Identity Crisis: Modern Warfare 2 answers the Call of Duty

After numerous will-it-won’t-it moments, it now appears Infinity Ward’s blockbuster follow-up to what we still like to simply call COD4, will now be adorned with the Call of Duty branding.

The final confirmation comes in the form of a recent unveiling of the packshot where, proud as punch, Call of Duty sits happily above what we believed was the only title of the game: the succinct – and accurate – “Modern Warfare 2″.

E3 09; Gaming Gear; the other side of E3

E3 is not just about the video games and booth babes. There’s much more to it than that, after all, you can’t hear that sneaky Helghast sneak up without a decent surround sound system or execute a perfect head shot in Call of Duty 4 with simply a Dualshock 3? Sure, it can get the job done but you want to be the best out there, don’t you?

We had the chance to try out Tritton Technologies latest surround sound headset, the AX Pro, which brings the ultimate listening experience straight to your ears. In addition, we also tested SplitFish’s FragFX controller designed specifically for the PS3.

Modern Warfare 2 “to be the biggest selling video game of all time”

Activision exec Simon Wells has high hopes for Modern Warfare 2. After all, Infinity Ward worked on the first game back when it carried the Call of Duty name; one of the most popular and well-known franchises in the video game industry – so why shouldn’t he?

But he isn’t going to settle for simply being the best selling game of the year! He has his eyes set on the podium for the best selling game… of all time!

What’s in a name? Modern Warfare 2 sheds COD moniker; goes it alone

With the recent news that Infinity Ward’s next chapter in the popular franchise will shed its “market recognised” moniker “Call of Duty” and go it alone with the paired down title of Modern Warfare 2, analysts are reading between the lines and postulating if Infinity Ward have rebelled against their publisher telling Activision that it’s their way, or the highway.

Or has a shrewd Activision recognised a perfect opportunity and decided that now is the best time to create a new franchise from an existing gaming juggernaut?
