Publisher Namco Bandai has announced that the Dark Souls II beta will begin on 12th October, as they’d like your feedback on ways to make the game excruciatingly difficult.

PS3 users wanting a challenge should look no further than the upcoming Dark Souls II beta coming this fall. Announced by Namco Bandai and FromSoftware, the closed beta will begin on October 5, 2013 and be available to select North American and European fans exclusively on the PlayStation Network.
Dark Souls 2, the sequel to the challenging and somewhat rage-induing Dark Souls, has been confirmed by Namco Bandai for release in March 2014. Sadly, there is no set day or date but we will update you when we know.
Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki, in an interview with Metro, has said that he is considering the inclusion of an optional easy mode in an effort to attract more players who may be put off by the titles incredibly high difficulty level.
Namco Bandai has announced that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition is coming to PS3 later this Winter.
This edition had previously been exclusive to PC owners but now console users will be able to join the fray.
This is a tough generation for Japanese devs working on PS3 with sales and enthusiasm for their products down well below normal and healthy levels.
The UK PS3 game sales charts for 2011 (compiled by GFK Chart-Track) featured no games in the top 10 from Japan. The list was instead dominated by American, Australian, Canadian and European studios. In addition, Japanese devs barely figured in the top 100 multiplatform charts too, excluding the always prolific Nintendo devs.

Namco have announced that they have partnered with FromSoftware, the talented developers behind the critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes, to publish Dark Souls and Armored Core V in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
