Step into the ring with these new Fight Night Champion screens

Fight Night Champion is nearing its early March release date and we have a few new screenshots to present, courtesy of Electronic Arts.

The images show David “The Hayemaker” Haye squaring off with boxing brothers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko of the Heavyweight division. The Fight Night series has always provided stellar graphics in the ring and it appears that Champion will be no different.

Well then, dear PS3 lovers… it will soon be the Year of the Rabbit, the happiest of all the Chinese zodiac signs.

In Chinese astrology the Rabbit is considered to be happy and popular. Rabbits are known for their artistic talent and good taste. You might say there are certain attributes of the Rabbit that foretell of a great year for Sony’s flagship console.

So, is that the case? Or will 2011 be more a ‘dog of a year’ than a metaphorical ‘lucky rabbit’s foot’?

Fight Night Champions is said to have a single player mode that is much different and deeper than anything that the franchise has previously shown. Although we may not yet have so much as a release date for the game, that does not prohibit us from taking a look at the progress to this point.

If you’re a true boxing aficionado then you probably own EA’s Fight Night Round 4 by now. If you’re on the fence about getting the game then perhaps this might persuade you to pick a side.

You see, FNR4 will be getting a DLC content pack in August as well as an update in September. It’s like a one, two punch. Ready for the finisher? All will be available for free. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

Cast your mind back to 2005.

We’re at E3 and Kudo Tsunoda is showing ‘real-time’ footage of what the PS3 is capable of doing for his Fight Night franchise. Of course, what is shown at E3 didn’t transpire when Fight Night Round 3 arrived on our beloved black monolith, raising questions of whether it was real-time after all.

Does Fight Night Round 4 finally deliver the realism we crave, as demonstrated four years ago?
