Heavy Rain for a long time was scheduled as one of the big hitters for Sony’s home console this year. However, it was pushed back t0 next year and Guillaume de Fondaumiere from Quantic Dreams has been explaining the decision in a recent interview.
He touts the main reason for the shift in release due to Christmas
Speaking to games database site SPOnG, Quantic Dream’s Guillaume de Fondaumiere has raised the tricky topic of how the studio plans to approach trophies in the upcoming Heavy Rain.
After all, with its adult themes and innovative structure, the game doesn’t naturally lend itself to the concept of rewarding virtual trinkets when a player finds a shard or completes a level. Hence, Heavy Rain’s trophies were always going to be as inventive as the game they feature in.
Though Sony decided not to bang the Heavy Rain drum again during yet another keynote speech yesterday, that’s not to say Quantic Dream’s adult thriller is not at E3 causing up a storm. And in case you won’t take our word for it, we’ve got it here for you to consume and contemplate courtesy of VG247.
An introduction to the many characters of the game, the footage also appears to focus on the discovery of a body in connection to what we’ve become to know as “The Origami Killer”. With stunning visuals and themes that definitely smack of maturity and a touch of sexuality, our interest remains suitably piqued.
It’s also an intriguing insight into a property Quantic Dream’s David Cage is purporting as an important game for an industry that must “grow up” and is sure to influence games and the industry in general for years to come.
Next Big Thing Heavy Rain has been suspiciously quiet of late.
In fact, we haven’t heard anything really substantial about Quantic Dream’s psychological thriller since Leipzig of last year. Well, consider the silence broken with an abundance of new screens appearing mysteriously on our desks this morning. Screens are always welcome of course but what about some moving images as well?
With E3 being less than a month away, expect to see a flutter of press releases coming from every direction. Sony have done us the honor of releasing the list of games they will be bringing to this years convention.
There really are no surprises in what we see. What will surprise us, though, are the secret and juicy games NOT on the list.
In just a few short weeks, we are going to have one of the biggest E3’s in quite some time. Sony are limbering up for a showdown of epic proportions, and doubtless the competition are taking a similar stance.
What do we reckon is lurking up the longest sleeves of the highest SCE bigwig?
Sitting down with David Cage of Quantic Dream, DPAD Magazine have discussed many of the unique attributes of upcoming “killer app” Heavy Rain.
Check the article for information about QTEs, DLC and (unfortunately not an acronym) the necessity for the gaming industry to “grow up”.
Following on from our recent articles looking at how 2009 is shaping up – coupled with some potentially positive results already – we take a foray into the untended and unsightly future of the PS3.
We’ve looked at ‘The Good’. We’ve looked at ‘The Bad’. Now it’s time for the uncensored (and slightly unhinged) ‘The Ugly’.
You have been warned…
We had the good. Now it’s the turn of the bad. What could go wrong for the PS3 in 2009? Are there any wrinkles at the edges ready to tear? Will we see death and destruction all around the gaming world? Will anything be as good as we are told it will? All this and more, after the break.
Sony’s execs get loose lipped in Spain (maybe it was the Sangria?) and reveal the launch date for Gran Turismo 5. And it’s a festive one!
Whenever new Heavy Rain material becomes available, we do like to lap it up. How about 24 minutes from a presentation made at the Micromania Games Show in Paris this weekend? Done.
