Zombies escape the island and head for Home

As we inch closer to Dead Island’s September release date, the zombies that inhabit the beach resort are getting restless. So much that they have escaped the island and managed to invade PlayStation Home.

Like the Killzone 3 campaign earlier this year, Home users can engage in various mission-based objectives to unlocked exclusive content for Dead Island or pre-order the game straight from your console.

E3 11; Half a million people visit PlayStation Home

When it first launched over two and a half years ago, PlayStation Home was seen as a bold experiment by Sony, which, if marketed well, had massive potential. Unfortunately, despite a huge increase in the amount of content available in Home since then, most gamers have ignored the service, as there is arguably no real incentive to keep logging in.

However, it seems that Home isn’t quite as dead as many of us thought, because half a million gamers have logged into the service over E3 and visited Sony’s dedicated E3 space, which included a live stream of the company’s press conference. Last year’s similar Home event only attracted a quarter of a million users, although it did not include a live stream.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be revealing our one hundred favourite developers, and believe us when we say that there are some incredibly talented teams included. We’ve now revealed sixty developers in our mammoth list, and today we’re revealing ten more.

Home has been a complete success

PlayStation Home – Sony’s virtual space – gets a lot of criticism. Much of this criticism stems back to its opening days when there was little for users to do. These days Home is a lot more exciting with several spaces for players to visit, and it’s proving profitable for Sony. Jack Buser, the director of Home, claims that the platform has been a unanimous success.
