Inferno Pool, Dark Energy Digital’s inaugural title, has been out in Europe for quite some time now. All of us here at PS3 Attitude Towers are fans of the game so it’s with great pleasure that we’ll see it released in North America next week on October 29th.
As a special treat to the winner of our Twitter-based PSFreeAttitude giveaway last week, we offered the attentive victor the chance to not only enjoy the fast-paced mania of Inferno Pool, but also to go up against the creators of the game, Dark Energy Digital.
Unfortunately the actual winner was unavailable so, still eager to pit our potting skills against the best of the best, we picked one of our many supportive readers, Ducer15, and prepared to square off against two of the best Inferno Pool players on the planet.
Announcing the arrival of Inferno Pool to the E3 throng, Dark Energy Digital have released a couple of new gameplay trailers featuring the PS3 Attitude favourite multiplayer mayhem grudge-game.
The accompanying press release also confirms the game’s availability to NA pool-sharks with a date still to be confirmed. We are promised it “shortly” however.
Check out the trailers here while we sort out hosting them ourselves for all you people on a mouse-clicking diet.
What Dark Energy have produced is not only an enjoyable pool simulator on the PS3 – admittedly a niche market – but what might be the first friendship killing game.
For when a game can incite a torrent of invectives from even the most timid of gamers – and they giddily come back for more – it’s a sign that Inferno Pool’s designers have tapped into the winning combination of something both equally fun and primal.
After exclusively announcing the impending arrival of Inferno Pool on the PSN last month, followed by this week’s “comical” hands-on video, it was only natural for us to sit down with the creators of the game and find out more.
The inaugural title from brand new development studio Dark Energy Digital, we were eager to not only get a better look at the upcoming chaotic “pool party” title but also some background surrounding the emergence of a new player in the digital distribution arena.
Luckily for us, Rob Hewson, Senior Creative Designer at Dark Digital, was more than happy to oblige.
What better way to highlight Inferno Pool’s competitive nature than some actual footage epitomising the spirit and utter geekiness of what happens when grown men gather around a console, talk smack and try to better their fellow man in a tribal contest. What this new footage shows (apart from four guys goofing around) is just how Inferno Pool’s vindictive nature can surface in an instant.
When a cannot-be-named-at-this-time developer contacted us wondering if we’d be interested in breaking the news of their new title, we thought about it for all of two nanoseconds and then promptly cleared our schedule.
We’ve been hinting at it over on Twitter for nearly a week but, thankfully, we can now finally reveal what all the secrecy has been about.
