Earlier this week, SCE Studio Liverpool became the latest in a long line of developers to unfortunately close their doors. It’s no secret that the videogame industry has been hit extremely hard by the global recession in recent years, so PS3 Attitude thought we’d take some time to remember five of our favourite development studios that are sadly no longer with us.
My oh my, what an insanely awesome month just passed. November is always known for being a big one in the gaming world but both the amount and quality of the games that just hit shelves is staggering. With the release of James Bond: Blood Stone next week, Activision and Bizarre Creations have released another of their behind the scenes videos, entitled ‘Classic Bond’.
With all the big AAA guns being pulled out this time of year, it’s very easy for a game like James Bond 007: Bloodstone to slip through the cracks. Of course, it doesn’t help that Activision hasn’t exactly been very forthcoming about the details, but we do have a new trailer to take a look at. Believe it or not, the PlayStation 3 was released nearly four years ago, and since then the console has been graced with hundreds of great titles. Therefore, we at PS3 Attitude thought we’d take some time to pay tribute to the people who create the games that make our mundane lives just that little bit more entertaining: the developers.
So far in 2010, we’ve been bombarded with several top quality games and had many interesting topics to discuss. We’ve been very lucky. July was, however, a very humdrum month. Sure, it’s normally dead the month after E3, but we were still looking out for the big releases, but sadly they never came.
Still, we found just enough to keep us interested during the mid-summer shutdown. We digested PlayStation Plus, got to grips with the Medal of Honor Beta and explored Hulu Plus. There were even a few new games announced that left us excited – not to mention an obscene amount of beat ‘em up news. There was also a big announcement here at PS3 Attitude. Here’s the review of the month…
Grammy and Brit Award winner, Joss Stone, has been been hired by Activision to play the new Bond girl in James Bond 007: Blood Stone. As well as starring in the game, Stone has written an exclusive track called ‘I’ll take it all’, which will feature Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. Good news or bad news? Well that depends on your tastes – but she’s no Ursula Andress or Shirley Bassey, that’s for sure.
Are there any James Bond fans out there? Well if there are you may be disappointed to here that the next game from Activision.
That’s right, the company has announced that the title which was originally targetted for late 09 has been rescheduled for 2010.
One of the many new titles out in stores today, James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace stands out as a potential winner.
You may remember we got to play the game recently at a preview event and interview one of the team from Treyarch, and we must say we were impressed. It is always hard to do justice when it comes to movie tie-ins, but somehow Quantum of Solace manages to be both a rock-solid FPS and remind you that you are Bond.
