Just when you thought Katamari Damacy couldn’t get any weirder. Surprise! Along comes a new English-speaking trailer for Katamari Forever from Comic-Con that has us frantically reaching for the anti-hallucinogens again.
Monkeys, turkeys (sorry, roosters) and the Prince of the Cosmos. It’s nice to see that, even though Keita Takahashi was not involved with this PS3 update to everyone’s favourite trash-ball-rolling game, there’s plenty of other crazy Japanese folk to step in and keep the madness going.
That’s exactly what you’ll be doing because the thing is in Japanese! From what we saw, it looks like the game will be in 1080p, have multiplayer, and possibly co-op. We also saw a “30” thrown in among the Japanese characters which just so happens to be the amount of levels in the game.
The trailer follows in the wackiness that is associated with the Katamari franchise so this doesn’t really come as a surprise to us. What does though, are the sweet new Home digs that Japanese players will get…
Katamari Forever, aka Katamari Damacy Tribute to some, will be getting more than just a simple 1080p visual overhaul and new cell-shaded graphics. Oh no, it’s much more than that. This PSN exclusive from Namco Bandai will be receive a new game mode as well.
If you have never played a Katamari game before, our excitement about the announcement of the next game – Katamari Forever – will probably be lost on you completely.
But for those of you who have played any of the Katamari games before, you know why we’re stoked, right?
When news hit that Katamari Damacy would be getting a PS3 “tribute”, we decided to simply fire off a tweet about the matter.
After all, we love Katamari Damacy but there wasn’t much to report.
However, what is somewhat more newsworthy is Eurogamer’s recent article that states that, not only is Takahashi-san not involved with the HD update, there are people at Namco who are “very very angry” at him.
