As far as updates for the Playstation Store go this one falls somewhere in the range of forgettable and unnoticed.
There’s not much to be had in this weeks treasure trove of offerings. Hopefully this is just the calm before the storm. Those still going at it hard with Super Street Fighter IV will find a new costume pack available for a handful of fighters worth your while. Outside of that and the usual Rock Band and Guitar Hero updates there really isn’t much to get excited about.
Nevertheless we have poured through the list so that you can unearth any potential gems that may be to your liking. Happy hunting.
SNK Playmore have announced that on December 21st, NEOGEO Station will be launched on the PlayStation Network, allowing gamers to play their favorite NEOGEO titles on either the PS3 or PSP.
Sony and LoveFilm have officially confirmed that the film rental service is coming to the PlayStation Network, exclusively for UK PS3 users, and will be free for subscribers of £5.99 packages or higher.
In another move designed to give greater incentive for PSN users to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, SCEA has announced a brand new addition to the service.
US PlayStation Plus subscribers can now purchase a two year protection plan, which extends the PS3 warranty from one year to three, for a discounted price of $44.99, that’s 25% off.
Arriving later this year on PSP is The 3rd Birthday, it’s the long awaited third game in the Parasite Eve universe – the first two games arrived on PSOne. If Tetsuya Nomura’s comments are anything to go by, it sound as though Parasite Eve 1 & 2 will be arriving on the PlayStation Store at some point in the near future. This will no doubt be great news for all those dedicated fans.
We’ve already detailed all the content PlayStation Plus members will be able to download that will be included with today’s PS Store update. Don’t worry if you’re not a subscriber though as there is still plenty of content available for all.
If you’re a fan of shoot’em ups, you’ll be pleased to know that Gundemonium Collection makes its European debut. For £9.99/€12.99 you get not one, not two, but three entire games! If you read our review, you should know that it’s a fantastic deal.

It’s another week of minimal content on the European PlayStation Store. However we do see the return of Earthworm Jim in HD which has to be the highlight for us. It’s also great to see a couple of classics in the form of Rayman 2 and Pong!
Although we’ll probably pass on pong despite how iconic it is, Rayman 2 for £3.99/€4.99 is certainly a good buy and will bring back great memories for some.
Gameloft’s remake of Earthworm Jim – that 16-bit era classic, originally released on Sega MegaDrive/Genesis – is making its way to the EU PlayStation Store today. Giving us all the opportunity to revisit the game’s original levels now in crisp HD.

As many of you know, in the recent firmware update v3.40, one of the many features introduced was the ability to rate content on the PlayStation Store.
For us this was one of the best new additions to the PS3 because it assists gamers when choosing what games to buy for their system.
If you sign in before the maintenance period begins, you’ll be able to still play online.
This month, we’ve been skinning everything in sight in Red Dead Redemption, demonstrating our construction skills in ModNation Racer and making our boards do the work in Skate 3. As of today, premium programming from HBO will be available on the American PlayStation Network for you to purchase and play on your PS3 and PSP systems.
The partnership with HBO will see hit series such as True Blood, The Wire, Entourage and the The Sopranos become available to PlayStation users. The PlayStation is the first console to offer content from HBO. Nice.
Eurogamer have managed to find out more news from Sony for the MUBI film streaming service which was announced earlier today. Sony representatives revealed to the gaming site – probably while being tortured – that MUBI will be coming in Autumn and that a subscription package will be available to users.
We have often thought that if Sony want people to get really engaged with the Video store for the PlayStation Network, a few exclusives now and again wouldn’t do any harm – After all, Sony own one of the largest movie studios in the world.
This week’s US Video Store update brings two of our favorite things in the world; superheroes and war. Okay, so maybe not war but we do love superheroes.
In celebration of the release of Iron Man 2 in theaters, there is a new Collections Spotlight for comic book films. We imagine seeing the likes of Iron Man, Spiderman, the Hulk, and plenty other Marvel and DC characters featured there. Also, War-themed movies are part of the Deal of the Week. This week’s video store update brings many deals on your favorite movies and television shows, along with a few free episodes of Party Down, a comedy involving an LA catering service team. While we’ve never heard of it before, Paul Rudd helped create the show so it could be good.
With the recent theatrical releases of Kick-Ass and The Losers, the action genre has seen a lot of…well, action lately. In celebration, the PSN Video store has gone all Michael Bay on us and provided some cheap action movies and TV shows for our viewing pleasure. Titles such as Ronin, Poseidon, and Sum of All Fears are available for up to 50% off!
There’s also this other movie that is making it’s debut on the Video Store. I believe it’s called Avatar and was only the biggest grossing movie of all time. In fact, it’s so huge that there are no other additions to the store!
