Contrary to popular opinion, voice acting can be an extremely stressful job, and painfully difficult to sustain a livelihood from. However, a handful of talented people make the job look (and sound) easy, and their extensive portfolios are a testament to their skills. This week, PS3 Attitude is paying tribute to five of our favourite voice actors, and taking a look at their established careers.
From tiny outfits that provide no more protection than dental floss, to massive armour that even Chuck Norris would struggle walking in, it has to be said that costumes in videogames often look pretty ridiculous. We could have picked five games at random for this list and they’d still have been relevant, but these are the characters we chose in the end (after we picked them at random).
I scared myself the other day. Before you ask, no, I didn’t look in a mirror or work out when the last time I exercised was; I counted up all the role-playing games I own that I haven’t completed yet.
Believe it or not, the PlayStation 3 was released nearly four years ago, and since then the console has been graced with hundreds of great titles. Therefore, we at PS3 Attitude thought we’d take some time to pay tribute to the people who create the games that make our mundane lives just that little bit more entertaining: the developers.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be revealing our one hundred favourite developers, and believe us when we say that there are some incredibly talented teams included. We’ve now revealed eighty developers in our mammoth list, and today we’re revealing ten more.
Mutinies. Hardware wars. Dying consoles. Tax laws. A month in the games industry can cover a variety of headline-catching topics, but these should never steal the attention away from the true stars of the industry – the games.
When it comes to RPGs, Square Enix is the not just the king, they’re the whole royal family. One of their most popular franchises that is not Final Fantasy is the Star Ocean series. The games have you and your crew exploring the vast oceans of space in search action, adventure, and the occasional celestial conquest. The latest installment, The Last Hope, acts as a prequel, embarking on the first mission across the ‘Star Ocean.’
Originally released for the Xbox 360 over a year ago, the game makes its PlayStation 3 debut with Star Ocean: The Last Hope International. The biggest difference is the inclusion of the original Japanese voice overs in addition to your standard English. Does this make for a better game though?
Weird names, explosions in outer space, and kick ass music. What more could you ask for?
It was touted as one of Microsoft’s big exclusives and now that has ended with the news that one of Square Enix’s biggest games for this year will be making its way over enemy lines and onto the PlayStation 3.
Brought to our attention by our good friends over at PS3 Center, it appears that Square Enix are at it again.
Just like the Count from Sesame Street, the Japanese developer’s addiction to counting shows no abatement with yet another page depicting an ever decreasing clock found clicking away over at the studio’s official site.
What could it be? We have some theories.
