The multiplayer pump, like all the best online taunts ever created, is an act of silly depravity, which does neither the taunter or the taunted any justice. Nailing this taunt, however, at the right time in Uncharted is incredibly satisfying.
So, to see Nolan North perform Nathan Drake’s signature taunt – on stage, in front of a packed audience at the Eurogamer Expo – was, well, a momentous occasion.
On the first day of Eurogamer Expo 2011, thousands of gamers packed into Earls Court to sample the biggest upcoming games and listen to some of the biggest developers in the world. We were only able to see a glimpse of what the expo has to offer but we did get some time with PS Vita, Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3.
Here are some thoughts from today’s conferences.
Game Group today announced a partnership with SCEE to release PS3 titles, DLC and subscriptions to the PSN in the company’s Game and Gamestation stores.
The Uncharted series is one of the highest rated franchises on PlayStation 3, and is arguably the most popular, due to its engaging story and characters, entertaining and fluid gameplay, and the best graphics on Sony’s console.
However, as good as it was, the online multiplayer component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was often overlooked by many gamers when compared to the impressive single player campaign, which is real shame considering the game’s high quality.
This is something that Naughty Dog is keen to address in the series’ upcoming release, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Therefore, the team is pulling out all the stops to make Uncharted 3 the killer online app on PlayStation 3.
With David O. Russell, Mark Wahlberg and a script that sounded like it was stolen from another video game series (seriously, Sly Cooper anyone?) all gone from the Uncharted movie adaptation, fans are now left wondering what will happen with their beloved Nate Drake.
At this year’s E3, 46,800 industry professionals, journalists, retailers and analysts arrived in LA to experience the videogame industry’s biggest event of the year, and with over 200 exhibitors promoting their latest games and hardware, this year was arguably the biggest ever.
We cannot offer you a complete guide to E3 2011 (that would require writing a book), but we can give you this neat list featuring 10 thing that caught our attention during this year’s show. We had great games and impressive hardware on show and a lot of stuff happening in-between. Enjoy.
This year’s E3 was incredibly dense. Trailers, screenshots, impressions and press releases have been pouring out this week. As E3 approaches, there’s nothing like releasing a trailer for one of the most anticipated games of recent memory to increase the already palpable excitement. That’s exactly what Sony and Naughty Dog have done, as over the last couple of days the internet has been going crazy for the new co-op trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
New details concerning the multiplayer modes to be featured in the upcoming Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception have bubbled up.
Gamers will get a chance to test out some of the game’s newest modes via the upcoming beta. Multiplayer looks quite deep for a game which initially burst on the scene as a dedicated solo experience. But don’t take our word for it, check out the video that Naughty Dog has kindly provided.
Naughty Dog has finally lifted the veil on who Nathan Drake will be going up against this time around for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and her name is Katherine Marlowe.
Well then, dear PS3 lovers… it will soon be the Year of the Rabbit, the happiest of all the Chinese zodiac signs.
In Chinese astrology the Rabbit is considered to be happy and popular. Rabbits are known for their artistic talent and good taste. You might say there are certain attributes of the Rabbit that foretell of a great year for Sony’s flagship console.
So, is that the case? Or will 2011 be more a ‘dog of a year’ than a metaphorical ‘lucky rabbit’s foot’?
It’s been a month of drinking, eating, and spending time with loved ones, and a month for announcements – big announcements. The following games were unveiled: Uncharted 3, The Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, SSX Deadly Descents, and a new Tomb Raider; it is a very impressive list. We also learned more about some of 2011’s most exciting games: Homefront, DiRT 3, L.A. Noire, Batman: Arkham City, Resistance 3 and Bulletstorm.
There weren’t many new releases, but the Vietnam expansion pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was a highlight. We also got some demos – and yes, a demo can be a highlight, but only just. Here is the re-cap of the month…
Late Night With Jimmy Fallon premièred gameplay footage of Uncharted 3, and it was smoking – literally. The host was guided through a château engulfed in flames by Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra. As well as demonstrating Naughty Dog’s new flame technology, the video showed off some awesome hand-to-hand combat.
Here’s the trailer everyone was waiting for! Watching the VGAs may have been torture, but it sure was worth it.
