Velocity Ultra, the Vita version of FuturLab’s critically acclaimed PS mini, was released a couple of days ago on the European PS Store. It’s even free for PlayStation Plus subscribers, but the team isn’t stopping there!
FuturLab, a small studio based in Brighton, was propelled to the forefront of independent game development in the UK, after the breakout success of their PS minis title, Velocity.
Since then, they’ve been one of PS3 Attitude’s favourite developers. We’re therefore delighted that James Marsden, founder and Managing Director of FuturLab, took some time to chat to us about their games, PlayStation Mobile, and what’s next for the studio.
As much as I’d like one, unfortunately there’s no way I can justify, let alone afford, getting a PS Vita right now. Instead of looking upon owners of Sony’s latest handheld console with envy (well, to be fair I’ve been doing that too – obviously), I decided I would simply dust off my old PSP.
Well, isn’t this a neat mini surprise? As is often the case with the Minis, I was content to let Velocity slip through my net. Let’s face it, there isn’t a shortage of them and most aren’t worth more than a fleeting glance. However, Velocity has received some rave reviews and some much wiser people than me have highly recommended it, so I thought, “Why not?”
