E3 09; PS3 Attitude’s Best and Worst of E3 2009

June 2009 marks a historic moment for PS3 Attitude. It was the first of what we hope to be many E3′s to be covered live from the Los Angeles Convention Center. Over the course of four days, we would cover three different press conferences, multiple booth tours and live demos, and who know’s how many crossings from the South Hall to the West Hall, not to mention the meeting rooms upstairs. There were both ups and downs, good games and bad, but overall, it was an experience like no other.

Join us as we recap some of our favorite (and least favorite) moments of E3 2009 along with some never before seen pictures taken by yours truly…

U.S. PSN Video Content For June 5th – Take That

This is more like it, can get behind this week’s number one PSN movie of the week. This weekend is the perfect time to stay home and enjoy a few good movies now that E3 is over. And you can’t go wrong with Taken.

Liam Neeson’s performance makes glad that he was only kidding when he said he would retire after Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace; we could have done without Episode I though.

Sony’s Secret Super Development Team

We’ve known for some time now that, just like a bunch of grandmothers who like to meet up and swap knitting patterns and complain how young people “just don’t listen anymore”, the talented and creative folk from a number of Sony’s studios also like to get together and share their stories and experiences.

Now we’ve learned of an integral clique of developers who are diligently working away on core development tools and sharing them with the wider Sony creative circle.

E3 09; Wipeout HD Fury Impressions

We told you about the upcoming Fury Pack that would be hitting the PSN this summer and that it would be playable at E3. Well, we were able to find the game tucked away in a corner of the Sony booth. It looked a little lonely with no one around playing with it so we took up the controller and gave it a go.

We tried out all three new modes, Elimination, Zone Battle, and Detonator along with a few of the new ships and tracks. This expansion focuses on the warfare and destruction aspect, more so than actual racing.

Speaking of classics, the PSone classic Street Fighter Alpha 2 is here, along with three demos: the just released CellFactor, the Europe-had-it-first Fight Night Round 4 demo and the we-thought-it-was-360-exclusive Overlord II.

Sony’s new Motion Controller already with developers

Sony’s new Motion Controller already with developers

With Sony and Microsoft about to enter “Motion-Wars”, a domain previously dominated by the sole presence of Nintendo; a lot of internet chatter at the moment is focused on two important points: whose technology is better, and who will be first to market?

The first question is almost impossible to answer with industry mavens and arm-chair commentators alike only able to opine personal viewpoints. (We like Sony’s more – just for the record).

As for the second question concerning timings, though no dates have been locked down at the moment, it does look like Sony could beat Microsoft for once and have their technology in your hands sooner rather than later.

E3 09; Castlevania: Lords of Shadow details plus screenshots

We’re beginning to think Konami may be tinkering with some cloning technology with the announcement that the ubiquitous Kojima-san, not content with producing one MGS game (the Raiden heavy Rising) and directing another, the aforementioned PSP bound Peace Walker, he’s also involved with upcoming Castlevania re-imagining: Lords of Shadow.

The highly anticipated God of War III made is playable debut at E3 and we had a chance to sit down and play with Kratos in all his HD glory. What we demoed was an extended version of what was played at the Sony Press Conference. It is filled with the undead, huge monsters, and gods. It is the epitome of Kratos’ adventure and everything we have come to expect from Sony.
