EA weren’t kidding when they said they wanted the FPS crown back from Activision.

Case in point: check out the debut footage of upcoming MW2-killer Medal of Honor exclusively shown at this year’s VGAs.

Electronic Arts has today announced a brand new Medal of Honor game for multiplatforms including the PS3 next year.

The game which is simply entitled “Medal of Honor”, will drop the common WWII theme for the first time in favour of war in present day Afghanistan.

With EA announcing 1,500 job cuts worldwide due to a less than spectacular performance in Q2, it’s no surprise to learn that the mega-publisher are going back to the well and rejuvenating old cash cows in an effort to keep their shareholders happy.

Remember Medal of Honor? Well, soon enough you’ll be hearing a lot from the old dog as EA have announced plans to revitalise the popular FPS franchise.

The PlayStation Network has been a huge opportunity for Sony to re-release the classic games that defined the PlayStation era. Unfortunately, for countless weeks Sony underwhelmed fans by ignoring the library of quality games that the PSone has to offer.

During E309, Sony stated that the number of PSone Classics available on the US PSN will increase to nearly 60 titles by the end of the year.

Is Sony on track in keeping its promise? Not only that, but are the games actually ‘classics’?

Not to be outdone by Europe, the North American store update is even bigger. It may not have Vidzone, but it does have the likes of three new downloadable titles, another PSOne classic, a couple of demos, and an uncountable number of add-on content.

In case you were under a rock, just came out from under it and stumbled on this post, E3 is in full swing. In order to keep up with all the news, updates, videos and reveals, the PlayStation Store will be updated daily with the latest content straight from the show floor.
