Though made up entirely of rendered footage, we’re not going to beat up EA Dice’s new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 trailer too much considering just how enjoyable it is.
Focusing on the game’s squad-based elements, witness what four men can accomplish when they put their minds together. As you might expect, these four particular guys have a mind for lots of death and destruction.
Announced yesterday at Gamescom (which is pretty much the centre of the universe at the moment – our German friends are so happy) and to much applause, Europe will finally see their own previously promised Video on Demand service launch this November.
Quoting a raft of great titles from the Terminator movies to Batman, new SCEE boss Andrew House (who is not a British guy playing a surly American doctor as it turns out) assured us that great content will be purchasable from the EU Store through the normal e-wallet system.
The new Heavy Rain trailer shown during Sony’s conference speech at Gamescom got a lot of tongues wagging among those of us lucky to be there while raising numerous important questions.
Questions like, doesn’t Ethan look a lot like a young Alec Baldwin? Did Quantic Dreams’ David Cage really lose his kid in a supermarket for ten minutes or is he just yanking our chains? And, the most relevant one, where are you going for beers later on?
Thanks to GameTrailers, you too can now check out the new trailer and ask yourself the very same question posed to games journalists at the presentation: how far would you go for love?
Taken out of the protective garage once more for a new spin at Gamescom, Polyphony’s Gran Turismo 5 is generating a lot of heat over in Germany.
In order to cater for this new attention there has also been an update to the official GT5 web-site revealing some new details of the perpetually upcoming racer.
The big news is that, and you can take this as official, there is crash damage with car deformation and the ability to even flip your ride on to its roof (not recommended).
Dark Void is everywhere here at Gamescom in Cologne with pretty much every taxi you can see plastered with advertisements for the sci-fi vertical shooter.
For good reason too as our friends over at Capcom have just provided the shortest of updates declaring the jet-pack featuring action title for a Jaunary 12th release in NA. Europe can expect to get some empty gloomy goodness a mere three days later.

Here’s a quick round up of what’s happening in a world where the PS3 Slim is no longer fiction, but a stark reality.
No, we are not refering to the next new and exciting product from Apple but the official BBC media player. The iPlayer allows users to stream/download clips, shows, and other features from the BBC. Up until now, the service has only been available on PS3 consoles through the integrated web browser.
Announced at Gamescom, Sony will be partnering with BBC to bring an official version of the streaming service to the PS3…

We’re at GamesCom in Cologne this year, and the first order of the day is to cover the much-anticipated Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Press Conference.
Whilst the rest of the Internet has been awash with rumour and speculation, as usual we at PS3 Attitude have bit our lips (and kept the ‘Drawer of Secrets’ locked), preferring instead to wait for the official word.
And now that word comes to you via our people on the ground, (almost) live from Germany.
We are nearing the release of the long awaited and somewhat fabled Firmware 3.0 for the PlayStation 3. How do we know we’re close to see it? Not only it was just announced at GamesCom, but the US PlayStation.Blog released a video update on how the new firmware is coming along with a slightly new look.
We’re still at Gamescom and the wi-fi is a little fuzzy at the moment so, just in case you missed our Twitter feed, we’ll keep this brief.
Sony have finally announced a price cut for the PS3 while also unveiling the oft-rumoured PS3 Slim.
Taking to the stage at Cologne, Sony big-wig Kazou Hirai talked about how Sony have a bright future and how Gamescom is officially “the third major date on our gaming calendars” (after E3 and TGS).
But enough of the pleasantries, Kaz also wanted to touch upon form and certain things “slim.”
Showcased today at Gamescom, CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Petrusson proudly announced DUST 514, a game best described as an FPS MMO with some RTS elements.
The new title will also be connected to the larger EVE Online universe, offering users who may have yet to experience the space opera an insight into just what they’ve been missing.
Crysis 2 for the PS3 is going to be one of those games that will either re-invent the FPS, or fall flat on its face. Though it will surely be a pretty game, a lot depends on whether or not Crytek can match their legendary visuals with compelling gameplay and story.
Check out some new demo footage of CryEngine3, the engine that will power Crysis 2, taken by a fairly steady hand over at Gamescom.
When Kazou Hirai takes to the stage at Gamescom tonight (2pm EST) the PSN will be powered down for what Sony are calling “routine maintenance.”
It’s not the first time the network has been taken offline for such measures (and it won’t be the last) but speculation is rampant that the fact that the two hour downtime just so happens to coincide with Sony’s keynote at Cologne is no coincidence.
The most likely reason the whole network needs rebooting would be the arrival of a new firmware.
That said, don’t be surprised if they simply chose this time purely because they expect most gamers to be glued to live feeds of the conference and not online killing Helghast.
