It appears that more evidence has risen that suggests Gran Turismo 5 will be releasing this year after all, despite no official announcement at Gamescom.

A picture from GTPlanet that is said to be of the game’s official brochure given out by Sony at Gamescom strengthens the possibility that the game could still release before 2010.

Now that Gamescom is over, we look forward to the third big event on the gaming calendar, the Tokyo Game Show.

Held at the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba (which is in Tokyo, naturally), TGS takes place this year between the 24th and 27th of September. Want to know just some of the games that will be on display?

Industry figures and analysts have reacted to the new price point set by Sony on Tuesday for the PlayStation 3.

No surprise that they are delighted how Sony has managed to cut the price by a substantial amount, now selling at $299, €299 and £249.

Don’t ask us why Sony didn’t make a live stream of their Gamescom speech available so people could watch the keynote online.

Sony’s megaton announcement yesterday at Gamescom confirming the impending arrival of the PS3 Slim is not even 24 hours old and already we have a wealth of new information, stories and even rumours to wade through this morning.

It’s been quite a successful day for Sony. With the announcement of the PS3 Slim along with a new lower price and the Video Store making it’s way to the UK, people are going to have a lot of extra cash on hand. What better way to spend it than on a prepaid PSN card!

We’re at GamesCom in Cologne this year, and the first order of the day is to cover the much-anticipated Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Press Conference.

Whilst the rest of the Internet has been awash with rumour and speculation, as usual we at PS3 Attitude have bit our lips (and kept the ‘Drawer of Secrets’ locked), preferring instead to wait for the official word.

And now that word comes to you via our people on the ground, (almost) live from Germany.

We are nearing the release of the long awaited and somewhat fabled Firmware 3.0 for the PlayStation 3. How do we know we’re close to see it? Not only it was just announced at GamesCom, but the US PlayStation.Blog released a video update on how the new firmware is coming along with a slightly new look.

We’re still at Gamescom and the wi-fi is a little fuzzy at the moment so, just in case you missed our Twitter feed, we’ll keep this brief.

Sony have finally announced a price cut for the PS3 while also unveiling the oft-rumoured PS3 Slim.

Taking to the stage at Cologne, Sony big-wig Kazou Hirai talked about how Sony have a bright future and how Gamescom is officially “the third major date on our gaming calendars” (after E3 and TGS).

But enough of the pleasantries, Kaz also wanted to touch upon form and certain things “slim.”

If we wrote an article every time a major retailer drops the price of the PS3 today, we won’t get to the other great stories that are emerging so – let’s just get this one out of the way.

Thanks to our friends over at TSA, we now know that Kmart — big, evil and ubiquitous Kmart — have announced on their official web-site that they’ll be selling the PS3 at a new lower price. What’s more, they’ve also hinted at a “New Exciting PlayStation 3″.

Just like Xenogears from last week’s column, Square’s Vagrant Story bucks numerous staple JRPG trends, this time, however, in completely different areas.

One of only eleven games to receive a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu, and the only PlayStation 1 title to feature in the list, Vagrant Story wowed fans across the globe upon its release back in 2000 and went on to become one of the most loved, if somewhat forgotten, of the many illustrious Square RPGs.

Reported over at MCV (and pretty much all across the interweb), U.K. retailers are claiming that, according to Sony, they should not expect any new PS3 stock until later this month or possibly September.

The news comes during a period of immense speculation of an impending announcement from Sony with such stock strangling measures occurring in the past, usually when a new SKU is about to launch on the market in conjunction with a sales-injecting price-cut.

With Sony expected to announce the PS3 Slim at Gamescom next week, mark this one down as yet another red flag in the “PS3 Slim Lives!” phenomenon.

On its own, it’s an interesting exposé with interviews from the likes of comic-book maven and game writer Paul Dini to some pretty cool mocap shots of martial artists going through their acrobatic moves, helping the animators capture Batman’s unique fighting style within the game.

What is also intriguing from the footage is, right at the end when the camera pans across the Rocksteady development floor, there appears to be a blurred console sitting vertical on one of the developer’s desks.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have confirmed a new Heavy Rain character will be revealed at this year’s GamesCom event in Cologne that runs between the 19th and 22nd of August.

The news started speading when PS3Center claimed that they had information about Sony unveiling a new character for the Quantic Dreams title at the up-and-coming games event.

Hatimaki blog have got their hands on a compelling notice from a 7-11 convenience store in Japan indicating that pre-orders for the 80GB version of the PS3 will no longer be accepted from this Sunday.

Can we really trust a supermarket though? Well, found at nearly every corner of Nippon, the Japanese flavour of 7-11 doesn’t just sell groceries and confectionery but also extends their range to electronics and, well, material of a more adult nature. Seriously, you wouldn’t believe what we found next to the Pringles in Koiwa.

Though still very much steeped in myth and hearsay, when a popular online retailer lists a pre-order scheme for the still unconfirmed PS3 slim, we sit up and take notice.

This is exactly what has happened with the German branch of Amazon now taking orders for what some people are calling Sony’s relaunch of the PS3 console.
